You must set the port in the MSR program to the port the MSR is plugged into.
If you don't know the port number. Then keep changing the port in the MSR program until the writer is
found.

Try connecting using the different COM port settings (mine was COM 4). The setting can be changed within the software.

you can buy the usb data cable for the msr206 at Diij Electronics, look under the accessories for the magnetic card writer section. there website address is http://diij.com

try searching mini123sc on hotfiles.com but the software is a pay for software package and these dowloads will be illegal but the choice is yours.

you can use the msr805 program with msr206. they are similar and can be downloaded form the Diij Electronics website at http://diij.com

try to use uniblue driver scanner to see if any help thanks and good luck

I'm trying to install my new msr206x on to my laptop with windows xp but it does not want to turn on. i have installed the the encoding software and still it does not come on. The type that i have does not need external power, you get the power from the usb port.
Please advice.
