No gas coming out from all hobs

Do you have a drop down lid over the burners, if so the mechanism may be faulty. Most of this type of design has a safety cut off when the lid is shut, and it won't allow gas to flow through to the hob, lift the lid and check behind and see if it has stuck closed.

This sounds like replacing (or if possible - adjusting) the thermostat will fix the problem. Fortunately, thermostat technology hasn't advanced to the microprocessor level yet, so you (or your appliance repair person) should be able to find a workable replacement - assuming it isn't a real odd-ball.Some thermostats allow for minor adjustments - but not all. Since I have no idea which oven you have - there's little more I can provide.Good luck!

Can you use metal cookware

Yes. I use metal pots and pans on mine for years. They need a flat bottom. Heavey bottomed pans work best - Thin pans don't transmit the heat well,

My problem is similar to

Hi,

I'm slightly unclear as to the exact nature of your problem as this is listed as a "Gas Cooktop" problem. You refer to elements but these are only found in electric cooktops. A gas cooktop has gas burners. You also stated that you thought the switches were fine, but then asked if you would be able to obtain replacement switches.

Please work with me a little to help you identify the cause of the fault and help you obtain any parts that you may ultimately need.

Regardless of whether the cooktop is electric or gas, you should be able to interchange the control knobs on the cooktop. These should simply pull off of the spindles.

If the knobs from the switches that currently do not engage also do not engage when put on a different spindle, then it is the control knobs that need replacing. If the knobs from the switches that currently engage, do not engage when put on the spindles that you are already having difficulty with, then it is the switches that probably need replacing.

In the case of gas cooktops, these would be control valves rather than switches as switches are electrical parts.

I hope you understand the reason for my slight confusion. Please can you let me the know the correct brand and model of your cooktop and whether it is electric or gas. Please also try the test described above with the control knobs and let me know the results.

I will then be able to assist you in determining which parts are needed (if any) and point you in the direction of a reputable supplier. It would also help if you could state your location

I await your reply.

Regards,
BElectric

Corning cooktop burner outage

The cooktop has to be examined for failure of the element or the switch. Some of the switches & some of the elements are still around. Have the elements checked for continunity. You will have to take it out of the counter and take the unit apart to do this.

Corning smoothtop electric range

You MUST use flat bottom pans on three of the four burners, the back right burner is the multi-pan burner and accepts any type pan. You'll notice the other burners have a circle in the center, that is the thermostat that reads the temp of the pan, that burner type needs the flat bottom pan to work correctly. The multi-pan has no thermostat and it will boil water in any pan.

Good luck
