My router did not come with any software do i need

Please reset the router by placing a pin in reset hole and push the pin sslightly, (remember you need to do this when the rrouter is in ON state)
Then connect your router to your computer using ethernet port (this is for configuration) and also connect the ADSL cable.

now open internet explorer and type in //192.168.1.1
Then it will prompt you for username and password
Username: admin
Passsword: password
this username and password is by default.

then configure your router as you need by changing display name, password authentication, MAC registration etc...

If you face problem with connecting internet even following the above steps, then you need to contact ISP(internet service provider) for settings.

Thanks,
Satheesh

How to connect two ASUS RT-N10 Routers to PPPoe connection?

All routers don't work the same. You have assigned to the second router to an IP address that is outside of the pool. Some routers will not see this. Try assigning the second router to the .50 IP and see if it is identified. If so, you know that is your problem. You can then decide to either reassign the second router's IP to a high address in the pool, or use the .50 IP and in the first router, use the advanced settings to reserve the .50 address to the second router so it will not re inadvertently assigned to another device, causing an IP conflict.

The wireless is ok but if theres black out when the power is back my wireless is not working

First I suggest you get a UPS and attach ALL your devices on battery backup. Power surges/power interruptions could be detrimental to your electronics. After a Power Interruptions ALL your devices may have to be rebooted one by one, allowing each to selftest. If you live where the power goes off often or electrical storms are common, it's crucial to use Surge protectors and a Universial Power Supply.

I just installed this router.

Access your router with insturctions below then find the security tab and decide what type security you want.
The only secure encryption is WPA2.

When you allow WPA-TKIP to be run alongside for compatibility, you just eliminated the only security you had.

All of the other "security" methods for a home router are useless. Disabling or altering the SSID broadcast does not protect the connection from anything, and neither does MAC filtering. Both are trivial to get around, and are more useful for administrative purposes such as load balancing between multiple access points on a network.

To open the set up page of the router of the router , one of your computer should be able to go online through the router.
It could be a wired computer or wireless computer.
If it is a wireless computer then make sure that the computer is connected to your own wireless network.
Do not change any wireless settings on the router using a wireless computer.
OK ! Now you have a computer online through the router and you want to open the set up page of the router.

First step is check the IP address of the computer.
Check the IP address and the Default gateway on the computer.

For Windows XP

START ==> RUN ==> type in cmd in the RUN box==> click OK or Hit ENTER . You will see a black window that is a command prompt . In the black window type in " ipconfig " ==> and Hit ENTER on your key board .

For Windows Vista and Windows 7

click on START ==> type in cmd in the start search box ==> enter ==> you will see the black window. Type in " ipconfig "you will see a lot of information. Try to find out the local area connection IPv4 address .

Note down the Default gateway number.

For MAC OS

Click APPLE icon in the right top corner of the computer. Go to System Preferences ==> go to Network ==> you will find the option Built in Ethernet or Airport whichever is connected. If you go to that you will find the Ip address and router Address.

The default gateway is the IP address of your router.

This IP address of the router will be used to open the set up page of the router

Now you got the IP address of the router.Open the Internet Browser ( Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari )

In the Address bar of the browser Type the IP address of the router.

Do not type http:// or www just type in the IP address only.

It will ask you for the user name and the password of the router.

This is the User name and the password of the router and NOT the wireless password. On a wireless router, there are 2 passwords. One is to access the router and the other one is for the wireless network.

For most of the routers the default password will be " admin " . for some routers the default password is " password ". For Linksys router the default password is admin and no user name.
