Yamaha psr700 speaker cover removal

Assuming this is a PSR-S700 then you need to undo all the screws under the keyboard and open up so you can see inside under the speaker grill. You will see the grill has tabs that poke through the casing and these are then twisted to keep it in place. Straighten these, push tab through casing going from side to side and then the grill will eventually work free. You do not want to do this too much as the tabs will eventually break with wear.

Psr-s500; no display at all

Read your manual about a contrast control for the display. At one end of the range of control the display is almost invisible. Sometimes there is a little shaft/knob on the back, other times it is a menu item and yes, it is hard to see the display to adjust the display... just go through the procedure blindly to see if it comes back. Also illuminate the display if dark with a flashlight and see if there are display characters there but just lacking a backlight. A backlight failure could be the problem.

PSR-S500; left part of display

The display is an LCD. From your limited description, it would appear that, electronically, at least, everything is working correctly, but perhaps the LCD has become warped or damaged.

Yamaha has a parts order website, but you would need to create an account to actually order the part, AND you would need to know the part number of the LCD. Not only that, but you would have to perform the repair yourself - - - not recommended, unless you're an electronics geek already. ~LOL~ But if you want to take a look, here is their parts web site:

https://www.yamaha24x7.com/yamahaoms/Login.aspx

I'm assuming you're in the U.S.A. If you really wish to talk to Yamaha about the part, they do have a number you can call: (888)892-6242

Prior to making the call, be sure to write down the model# and serial# of your keyboard. It is probably found on the back or under side of the unit. They will advise you on the availability of the part.

Another alternative is to go on Ebay and search for PSR-S500 under the category Musical Instruments.

You can locate an authorized Yamaha dealer at this web site:

http://usa.yamaha.com/dealers

Problems like this are a REAL PAIN in the you know what, and I know how aggravating it is to have to spend money on a repair for an instrument you've already paid over $500 for. I'm assuming this is an out-of-warranty situation.

Anyhow, good luck on getting this fixed, and let us know how things work out.

Thanks ~Jim :-)

This morning during a church

It is shop replaceable. I have heard this is NOT an uncommon problem. You can get the parts through Yamaha America in California. Here is your service manual:

http://elektrotanya.com/yamaha_psr-s500.pdf/download.html

Scroll down to "Get Manual" and click on it to download the manual (about 12Mb)

Yamaha PSR-340 keyboard is not

Hi Aspro_uk,

If your Yamaha PSR-430 wont work, it might caused by recent changes on the setting or configuration. The easiest way to correct the issue is to do a factory reset. Please follow the steps below on how to reset the settings of Yamaha PSR-430.

Note: All stored data like User styles, Registration, Multipads, User songs, MIDI setting and User voices will be deleted during the process. I recommend to create a back up before executing the Factory Reset. This can be done by performing a ''Bulk Dump'' to an external MIDI storage device or by saving the user-stored data to a floppy disk via the internal disk drive of the keyboard.

1. Turn off the keyboard completely.

2. Now, press and hold down the rightmost white key (C) while turning ON the keyboard.

3. Once the power is ON, please release the key.

4. The keyboard will reinitialize to the original factory settings.

-->For additional information and guide, please download the user manual below.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Display is intermittend

Yamaha apparently had some problems with these displays according to the forums... If you are out of warranty then the repair will likely be at your expense. If in warranty, go on record immediately. Replacing the display is not really DIY unless you are electronically competent... I don't know what the cost for the display is, however you can call Yamaha America in CA and ask for "parts" and tell them what you need and ask the price. I can tell you there are a LOT of screws to remove to access the display and cables that must be cared for.

Hi My yamaha PSR S500

Check that your adapter is a 12VDC with a current rating of at least 1 amp (1000ma) AND that the center pin of the connector is the POSITIVE.

The keyboard is showing sign of power input but

1. Try the volume

2. Your adapter may not be the proper voltage/amperage. If the adapter has ratings listed, make sure they match the keyboards ratings.

3. Try it with the headphones. If they work and the speakers don't, you've narrowed down your problem. There may be some damage or wiring problem within where the board meets the speakers, and/or before processing.

4. Try it with batteries. If that works, you need a new adapter.

What is the best way to reprogram a Yamaha WX5 Ewi

Reprogramming a Yamaha WX5 Electronic Wind Instrument (EWI) typically involves adjusting settings, assigning functions to different keys, or customizing parameters to suit your preferences. Here's a general guide on how you might reprogram a Yamaha WX5:
  1. Access the Menu:
    • Turn on your Yamaha WX5.
    • Navigate through the menu options using the buttons or controls on the instrument. Refer to your WX5's user manual for specific instructions on accessing the menu.
  2. Select Parameter to Edit:
    • Once in the menu, find the parameter you want to edit. This could include things like breath sensitivity, pitch bend range, or assigned MIDI channels.
  3. Adjust Parameters:
    • Use the controls provided on the WX5 to adjust the parameters. This might involve turning knobs, pressing buttons, or using a combination of controls.
  4. Save Changes:
    • After making your adjustments, make sure to save your changes. The WX5 typically has a save or store function within the menu. Confirm the changes and save them to the instrument's memory.
  5. Refer to the Manual:
    • Consult the user manual for your specific Yamaha WX5 model. The manual will provide detailed information on navigating menus, adjusting parameters, and saving changes.
  6. Connect to a Computer:
    • Some advanced customization may require connecting your WX5 to a computer using MIDI. You can use Yamaha's dedicated software, if available, to reprogram certain parameters.
  7. Use External Sound Modules:
    • If you're using external sound modules or synthesizers, some customization may need to be done on those devices as well. Refer to the manuals for your MIDI equipment to ensure compatibility and proper configuration.
  8. Explore Advanced Settings:
    • Depending on your proficiency and the complexity of your WX5 model, you might explore more advanced settings like custom MIDI mapping or adjusting sensitivity curves.
Remember to approach reprogramming with caution, especially if you are not familiar with all the settings. Make note of the default settings before making changes, so you can revert to them if needed. Always refer to the user manual specific to your Yamaha WX5 model for accurate and detailed instructions on reprogramming and customization. If you're unsure or uncomfortable with the process, consider seeking assistance from Yamaha support or experienced professionals in electronic wind instruments.

I have a Yamaha US 1 organ. The foot pedal broke after 25 years of service at our church. I am trying to buy 4 part #15 foot pedal replacement pedal.. Can you help

My US 1 has had four broken pedals, and now has a fifth. I called Yamaha, and they DO have washers for the pedals but not until March. It is technically what they are calling a "failed instrument." So many of the parts have failed but been successfully replaced until now. The plastic in the pedals becomes old and brittle over time, then reaches a point where it just cracks off. The MDR has been rebuilt too, but is very temperamental. It doesn't allow me to copy discs any more. I'm trying to find a used one to replace it. Any ideas? [email protected]
