Can you operate a marantz cd redorder without remote control?

Any CD recorder should be operational without a remote BUT there may be some menu items that might not be accessible. It strikes me as a poor design when you are required to use a remote to operate a device for basic functions.

Problem with Sony RCD-W1 CD recorder

'No audio' comes up when you use the wrong type of cdr in the drive. You need a 'consumer audio' or 'music' specific CDR and not a generic computer cdr to use in these units.

A cdr630 twelve years old will not record on any b...

The manual states that 74 minute 650MB 1-4X disks run best; my machine would not burn anything I had, eventually I found 650MB crrw's on ebay for as cheap as 2 cents a piece, I have a fair number of them and so far every single one has worked. Imation 800Mb cd's seem to work 80% for me.

I have a Marantz CDR 615 and it won't let me

What kind of error are you getting? Does it attempt to calibrate then display the entire disc as being full? If that try a blank that will tolerate recording at the 1x speed. Nowadays the only thing you will likely find are discs meant for audio recording or data discs that can record at speeds as low as 1x. If you can find some of the earlier kodak, Ampex/Quantegy, japanese maxells, etc then you will be okay. Also it may not be obvious but the cdr 615/620 will not record on cd-rw's
I bought one of those new and had nothing but trouble out of the phillips cdd2000 module that had to be replaced 3 times (3rd time at my expense of $300) but Superscope in Aurora, IL was good about support. Ironically I seam to remember a class action suit against Phillips over their very flaky cdd2000 drives.

On my Marantz CDR-630, how do you erase unwanted

Which recordable disks are you asking about? "Erase" will only work on CD-RW and does nothing on CD-R.

Once you've recorded onto CD-R all you can do is add additional material to it until the disk is finalised to allow it to be played on virtually all CD players. The same goes with CD-RW, but with those you have the option to erase the entire disk and start again from scratch. You can also delete individual tracks from a CD-RW but the space does not become available for additional recordings until the disk is totally erased.

Perhaps you'll find the .pdf manual to be of use:-

Marantz CDR631 is dead

open it up and take the mechanism out, then you should see a servo PCB screwed to the underside of the mechanism.
unscrew this and where the connecting wires plug in from the main PCB, you should see 2 or 3 fuses which look a bit like capacitors and should be red in colour marked MPXXX eg. MP100?
replace these if you can find spares, if not bridge them with a bit of thin wire soldered in place and then it should switch on once reassembled.
the clicking sound you mention will be the main power supply capacitors running and this is normal.

CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO CONNECT A SET OF

You will have to use an amplifier to power the speakers from the cd player, the output on the CD player isn't enough. You will need to hook the CD player to the amplifier using the red and white wires, on the CD hook them to the OUT and on the amp hook them to the CD or Aux or Tape in. Then select that input on the amp and enjoy the music.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.
If you need further assistance please comment to this post and I will try to help you further.

Looong initializing phase followed by "disc error"

Hi...

How long have you had the CDR631?

I would suggest a good cleaning of the laser lens assembly. NOT
some cheapy cleaner disc either.

If youre not comfy with messing with small electronics let a tech do it.
Marantz is worth it.

Marantz630

What does it do or not do? Does it read the blank properly? If it does and comes up as ready to record you need to check the inputs first and work forward from there. If it comes up with No Disc error or OPC error you may want to buy some different media to see if that solves the problem. We have three of these beasts and they seem to be particular about the media used. Our best luck has been with Memorex and Maxell.

Marantz CD5004 tray keeps opening problem

CD/DVD players use a protocol; Open tray. Insert disk. Tray switch tells mechacon that the tray is shut. Attempt to focus on disk. If focus is acheived, then it will spin up and try to read the disk otherwise it will ask for a readable disk. If the tray keeps opening, I would suspect the tray detect switch is malfunctioning, maybe the drive belt has stretched.
