Hello kurzty, please use the INPUT button located on either your remote or on the TV UNIT to change the existing input station/video. Keep cycling through the input selections until you see the regular programming again. If you can at LEAST see the menu pop up on the screen, you know nothing happened to your projection device. which means your NOT going to have to pay several HUNDRED bucks for a repair if your not under warranty. Write back if you have any more problems. My username is bbl242003
No picture or sound.
Again its a capacitor on the power part of the mail board..takes an advanced user or tech to replace
Two issues with LG42PX5D. 1st, while on, picture
This could be a Mal-Discharge problem which can be rectified by replacing either or both of the sustain boards, a software update for the control board can occassionally help but would need to be done by an engineer.

As i watched my LG last night it made a rather
well, that means something got realy hot under load. could be the main i.c. under the heatsink on one of the sustain boards. look for cook marks or discolorations on the backside of those boards. could also have been some condensors somewhere that popped but usually it wont be loud enough to hear and they may whistle instead and usually on the power board.
if the i.c. on (y-sus) popped on ya. it may have blown the upper and lower buffer boards it has attached to it. check with a meter to verify they are good or shorted (constant beep)
good thing is, lg has alot of boards out there.. shouldnt be a problem finding what you need.
Multi coloured vertical stripes on plasma screen
With half of the screen working, and with a Plasma tv. I will look at the driver board as being bad. Take the back cover off, the driver pcb will be at the top or bottom of the set. They are only about 2 inches tall and will cover most of the lenth of the set (2 boards that run end to end). The board that is on the side of the tv that is bad is the bad board. Replace that board or have a tech replace it.
Thick color lines on screen
Hi ,Sorry, this is not a solution. I have a question about your line. Is it transparent? (can you see through if the picture is bright)Does it remain there all the time if you change inputs? My LG 42" just had a blue transparent line appear on the right side of screen. Tried a few trouble shooting things w/ no change. About 1 hour later it went away. Did you find a solution and what was it?
