JVC AV-27020 (110 volts) plugged into 220v outlet

Taking the tv to a local repair shop is probably much cheaper than having an engineer call at your house, though some self employed guys don't charge call-out. Try your local classified directory. It might be as simple as a fuse. You should be able to check that for yourself or engage a handy neighbour. You should be able to download a manual from the manufacturer's website or just try a google search. Whether it is a lost cause or not is not really predictable.

There. Is a channel lock

Hello
you have to unlock your jvc set, and reset the V-Chip settings. There are two ways to unlock JVC TVs, you have to find out which proceedings frome below mentioned will work with your TV.

[1]

Press the "Menu" button to set the lock code for your JVC TV. A padlock icon will appear on the menu display.

Press "Zero" to access the lock code function then use the left and right arrows to select the four-digit number for your code. Use the up and down arrows to move to the next area of the display.

Select the up or down arrow to finish your lock code then use the left or right arrow to save your lock code settings and exit the menu. You can return to this display if you forget your four-digit lock code and set another code.

Write your four-digit lock code down and keep it in a safe, private area.

Select the locked TV channel you desire to watch or want to unlock. A message will appear on the display requesting you to enter your lock code to unlock the channel.

Unlock your JVC TV by entering your lock code on the 10-key pad. The message "Invalid Lock Code!" will appear on the screen if you enter the wrong lock code. [2]

Select "TV" from the menu then select "V-Chip" from the drop-down list on the screen. "Please Input Password" will appear on the screen.

Enter your four-digit password by selecting numbers on the 10-pad that appears on the V-Chip menu display or your remote control. Create a new password if you forget it by unplugging your TV power cord from the outlet then reconnect the power cord. This procedure resets your password to "0000." Enter four numbers for your new password using the keypad on the screen or your remote and select the arrow to advance to the next number. Press "OK" on your remote or select "OK" on the screen to set your new password. Unlock a TV rating or TV channel by selecting "MPAA" or "TVPG" from the V-Chip menu. Use the up or down arrows to select the locked rating then select "OK" on the display or press the "OK" button on your remote control to unlock it. The MPAA represents the U.S. Motion Picture Association of America rating system, such as "NC-17," meaning not intended for viewers 17 years or younger. TVPG provides you

Occationally turn on

Hi,

This is an indication of out-of-regulation in the power supply section. This is cause by leaky/dried electrolytic capacitor in that section. It will dropped the supply from normal voltage and will disable the unit.It needs a little warm-up to make itself stable but the symptom will get worst until the unit will not even power up. Sometimes it has a bulged/dome at the top but not all, it is better that you have a capacitor checker/tester to determine its condition. Your unit will back to normal again if the leaky/dried capacitor is isolated.

If you don't have necessary tools and test instruments, and can't do the job yourself, I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the problem. Don't attempt to work in the power supply if you don't know the safety precaution of handling it, there some stored electricity enough to hurt you with a little mistake only.

Also check if your unit is under warranty /extended warranty, avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free. Don't open the back panel, this will void the warranty.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using Fixya.

The timer on button flashes

The timer light blinking indicates a failure in the TV set. Either the vertical circuit or horizontal circuit has failed and needs repair. It actually has nothing to do with the timer circuit.
In my experience its probably a vertical output chip, smalla capacitor and zener diode. There may also be an open resistor.
Cost to repair in the 50-75 dollar range usually

I was playing a game and it made a sound then shut

Something shorted in the set, possibly the horizontal output transistor or a power supply diode. The reason it starts blinking again after plug in is because JVC try to come back on if they were on when the problem started. In other words, if it quit while it was playing it will always be in the on position until the problem is repaired and it can be turned off normally. Have a shop check it out for you. There are a lot of things that can cause one to go out. Thanks
