Picture problem
Try to adjust the convergance adjustment. If it is not adjusting by menu then try to change the ic convergance.

Hi Brian,
Sounds as though you have a bad convergence chip ( there are two convergence chips on the board ). I suggest you change both and apply lots of heat silacon grease. Good Luck

TV PROBLEM
with the set unpluged try removing the pcb board that is sparking. you may have a shorted crt or a short in the circuit for that tube
Tv has red
you need a repair tech. you probably have a bad convergence ic
JVC AV-56WP30 56 in. Green Convergence off
Remove front grill cover---look just inside--If your model has the
convergence board up front, then you might change the board
instead of re-building it.Depends on price and availibilty.....
If you want to pursue repair, let me know......T.
Sony 51WS500 convergence
I was wondering you did not say if you first replaced convergence ics STK-392-110s or150s. If not this would be why it does not hold alinement.
Picture is going bad
Essence,
The problem you are describing is called convergence mis-alignment.The repair is mechanical and requires soldering.
If you are prepared, I can take step-by-step.......
1) Remove rear cover and front speaker grill cover for access
2) Locate large, finned heatsinks that have STK IC's on them.
3) Replace Ic's
4) reassemble
5) check alignment
For more detail, please look it over and tell me STK # by
tomorrow if you have time...........T.
Convergence is off
Starts up with black raster, then shuts down with LED blinking 4 times
This is the micro telling you that the auto grey-scaling procedure has
failed. Change resistors R909, R913 & R922 (180k, 1%) on crt base
PCB. You will probably find that all these have gone high
Standby only
Check R101 (4.7ohm), TR102 (C6180) and C126 (47uF, 16V)
Tv turns on automatically. Power supply works well, +5V present but
seems that CPU (7700) does not (no standby mode), no remote or control
on the front of the set
After replacing CPU (TMP47C434) and crystal 1770 (4.0MHz) both control
worked intermittently. Replacing transistor 7674 (BC548) solved the
problem
Will not work, standby (red) LED flashing
C604 in the 12V line is bad
Int going into standby
Replace C454 a 22nF smd, located near the Frame o/p ic.
Finding chips for replacement
STK's are an original Sanyo chip available at many electronic supply shops and/or distributors. There are also plenty of the generic STK's floating around, we in the industry call chineese knock-offs. To get the originals try acme
http://www.acme-sales.net/index.shtml or B&D Electronics
http://www.Bdent.com
At ACME I know they're $12.99 each plus shipping and that's about as inexpensive as you'll find them...
Hope this helps!

Convergence
Ringmaster,
It sounds to me also as though the convergence amps are out. That unit has two STK392-110 IC's which are multi-pin IC's and not something the ordinary laymen should consider replacing for several reasons - more on that thought later...
The convergence circuit for that system is in the 800 location numbers on the board. IC804 and IC805 are your amps. They're mounted to an aluminum heat sink via screws and are backed with heat sink compound for added heat dissipation. You would also need to check all the feed resistors to those IC's for change in value. I have RARELY changed out the convergence amps and not found at least one of the feed resistors had changed in value. In that unit they're 2.2 ohm 2 watt.
Another insider tech advisement is to replace the present amps with STK392-150's instead of the 110's for greater reliabilty. They do cost a bit more, but are well worth the investment.
Lastly, can you so this yourself... If you're the kind of guy that could remove your appendix yourself with simple phone instructions from a doctor this will be a breeze. If not, get a professional. Not only can you ruin the amps putting them, heat damage, line-up or simple static blow out - after the job you'll need to do a complete convergence and may need to touch-up the parameters in the service menu (not a customer menu). And it relies on hex-decimal input. In short, you would be a penny wise but a pound foolish to do this yourself.

Convergence
Possibly----depends on mechanical, methodical ability and can
you solder??? If the answer is yes-----------
1) Remove back cover
2) Locate large heatsinks with STK IC's mounted on them
3) Replace both for long-lasting repair
4) Reassemble,test......
For detailed info, please let me know after you take a look....T.
