Hey eel the picture on the tv is like a three d

It sounds like it is probably a convergence problem. Is the second image a different color? Did it go out suddenly? If so you'll want to take it in for repairs because a component has croaked on you. This will require replacing parts and going through a tedious adjustment. If it is only slightly out there should be an adjustment in your menu. Good luck.

The tv screen shows a

its a "convergence" problem.

This model (one indicated here) uses two of the STK-392-110 convergence Ic's and if you can solder they are fairly easy to get at in this set(parts on EBAY will run you under 25 dollars).

Each chip has 18 pins that have to be un-soldered and some minor skills are involved in getting at them and replacing them.

I can tell you where to look for the parts, how to get at them the best way etc and what is needed to do this repair (done hundreds of them) in about a hours time.

I opened the set and

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from www.TvRepairKits.com

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Most JVC TV's with HDMI and Digital Input have an optical sensor inside the case to sense if someone is trying to bypass the hardware encryption. My JVC was exposed to sunlight prolonged sunlight and triggered this optical sensor which disabled my HDMI ports. This may be the same situation for you.

Turn the TV on, and enter the Service Menu. Select 2 for Self Check. Then turn the TV off, and after the fan turns off, unplug the power cord. Reconnect the power cord, turn the TV on, and the HDMI port is re-enabled.

Before entering the SERVICE MENU, confirm that the setting

I have an older JVC projection tv (50") the only

Problem is what is called "Convergence" and most of these sets like the model indicated use two STK-329-110 IC chips for this.

See attached photos of the board in this set and the black chips. This is a fairly easy set to get at them and I can tell you how. This does involve soldering, each chip has 18 pins. There are also some resistors in front of them that need to be inspected.

Total parts cost on EBAY would be well under 25 dollars and repair takes less than one hour.

Look the the attached photos and tell me if you think you or someone you know could do the repair if I tell what is needed, and how to get at them.

The words and pictures on my tv are outlined in

This is a fairly easy repair, I own one of these sets and have repaired dozens of them with the same problem.

Set uses two of the STK-392-110 CHIPS and they are located on a board directly in back of the front grill. SEE ATTACHED PHOTO: TOTAL PARTS COST FOR THE CHIPS IS UNDER 12 DOLLARS AND REPAIR WILL TAKE LESS THAN ONE HOUR.

I CAN TELL you how to take the board out with ease and the parts can be replaced with it out--other than the two chips there are a few resistors that need to be checked--easy and if any bad I can tell you the value.

Less than 25 dollars in parts and one hour to save the set!

Let me know if you want instructions and I will direct you step by step what you need and how to do it--the seller I use is on EBAY AND SHIPS FAST.

If this information and the photos help you rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

Turn tv on get a

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV. Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired ofcourse) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companiesPhilips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failedin 2-5 years instead of 10-20. Thecapacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in allsorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems. Here are some options for you. 1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is itunder warranty?) Remember, TVs CONTAINHIGH VOLTAGE AND CAN KILL YOU! Do this at your own risk. 2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cordplugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad capsreplace the entire board. The entireboard costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found at tv-part.com but supplies are limited. I would definitely shop around though. 3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill. Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourselfit will save you hundreds. This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be. I have a Tip/How TO tutorialon this site that may also help. Itgives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this isyour board you are in luck. Here is theLink: Fixingthe Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to helpguide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help. Hope this helps and if it does please rate itaccordingly. Good luck.Kaufman605

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.

The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded over.
