How many liters of 20% alcohol solution should be added to 40 liters of 50% alcohol solution to make 30% solution

I will assume that the percentage is per volume (20% per volume, 40 per volume.Let x be the number of liters of the 20% solution. What is the volume of alcohol in x-liters @20%?-----> .2xWhat is the volume of alcohol in the 40 liters of solution @ 50%? Obviously 20 liters.Amount of alcohol in the two solutions =.2x+20After you mix the two solutions what is the resulting volume? Resultant volume=x+40Percentage of alcohol in final solution: 30% or 0.3Quantity of alcohol in final solution =.3*(x+40)When mixing the two solutions, no alcohol is lost: The amount of alcohol before mixing is equal to the volume of alcohol after mixing (.2*x+.5*40) =.3*(x+40)Solve this equation for x. (Show your work) You get x=36 Liters. Check the result by replacing x in the equation.

Geometric Mean

can't quite make out the detail on buttons on the image I have of your calculator but here goes.

say for example, the geometric mean of 2 × 3 × 6 × 8 is the 4th root of 288, or approximately 4.12.

enter nth root first, in this case 4 then shift then root symbol then open bracket, 2x3x6x8, close bracket then = ,
should give you 4.1195 etc

I wanted to know if the Casio fx-300MS can ratio

Hello,
Sorry to disappoint you but there is no special key to (solve) ratio problems. It does however have a key to enter mixed fractions ( [a b/c] ) and a key combination to convert between mixed and improper fractions [SHIFT] [d/c].
Hope it helps.

Math error

e^500 is about 1.4*10^217. That's 14 followed by 216 other digits before the decimal point. This number is much too large for your calculator to handle, thus the error.e^.500, on the other hand, is about 1.65 . (That's e to the point five). I think you dropped a decimal point somewhere.
