sounds like the remote batteries could be bad or the buttons on the remote need to be cleaned. some JVC TV remotes, I'm not familiar with this particular one though, can be cleaned using a clean pencil eraser. Be careful opening the remote because some parts can fall out or you can damage the connections to the LED emitter that sends the signal to the TV. Also the solder connections on that LED could be bad.
Good day..That problem is usually cause of bad capacitors on the power supply section..As you stated your TV works fine and after a minute the red light comes on...That
symptoms is cause of bad capacitors..Normally bad capacitors can check
visually if the capacitors look like leak/bulged on the top that is the
indication of bad one but not all bad capacitors are bulged some are not
so in that case you have to used a special meter called capacitance
meter..This is the sample picture of bulged capacitors:
If your using basic cable then just use auto program and the set does the rest. You will only get the hd stations your cable provider provides using basic. If you use their hd cable box and pay for more hd stations then you will have more.

1. Turn ON TV
2. Connect PS3 to TV HDMI input
3. select TV HDMI input for PS3
4. turn OFF PS3 if it is ON
5. Press and hold the [I/O]Power button until the PS3 until you get the "HDMI Detected" message.
Also, this TV has a circuit that deactivates the HDMI if the rear cover is removed. It is possible the HDMI may have been turned OFF. This is reset in the service menu of the TV.

Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge)
As a first step , if it is controlled via the remote, check that the remote batteries are good and that it is functioning ok. Does the tv show anything att all? If it does come on but shows nothing then it might be that the source selection is on the wrong kind of source, you can find on the remote whether this is so by going to the source menu which should probably be on digital. (I am assuming that you only have digital broadcasts where you are.
If there is no picture whatsoever ubplug the set and check whether the internal fuse(s) are ok.)
