How do i clean the bulbs and mirrows in a hitchi

The bulb is not an imaging element meaning dust on the bulb will not effect image quality and thus recommend not messing with it. You will need to remove the covers and use a very soft cloth to clean mirror. These products us a "first" surface mirror and scratch or imperfection or cleaning swirl on the mirror will show up on projected image. Suggest his be left to a professional. good luck

No picture only flashing red light when u turn on

this normally indicates a problem inside the tv, the blinking red light is to warn you that there is a problem and it will stop the set from turning on. The only time I had this problem a fuse from inside the tv needed to be changed. However, don't attempt to do this youself if you have no expierience.

I hope this helps

Need to move a 57 inch hitachi rear screen proj TV

No, do not attempt this as you will damage the unit if you try to take it apart and reassemble it. They are not built for dis-assembly and re-assembly. They are easily damaged. Rather, rent a large industrial hand truck and use several straps to secure it to the hand truck and about three men to help you. It is about the only way to do it.

Be careful... there is a fragile mirror inside which can be broken if bumped abruptly.

Cant figure out how to get old bulb out of the tv

I just did that. Unplug the TV then pull of the panel below the screen (pops off)The you will see on the left single screw to a door like opening. Remove that screw and then look inside. You will be a handle and that part is screwed on. Remove the screws that pull outwards. Be careful as the lamp has mercury iand lead in it and you will need to dispose of it properly. Then remove the lamp and put on the new one. Do not touch the lamp with your fingers, use the glove that is usually provided with it. After that just push the lamp back in put in the screws, then screw the door like opening back on, pop the cover back on. You are now done.

Lamp and temperature light are blinking

The problem is that the cooling fan has damaged. Do not switch on the TV, since it will over heat the system and damage other components. Replace it immediately.

Greenish picture

sounds like you might have a defective optical engine or at least it is internally dirty. would recommend that you have a qualified service tech look at it. if the quote is very high than you might want to just live with it.

Blue 1sq. ft area on left lower section on screen,

Greetings,
You said it yourself. You hate this set. My question is why did you bother to spend $900.00 to have it fixed when you could have bought a flat panel plasma or LCD set that would give you a better picture than any rear projections set could. My suggestion is since you hate this TV with a passion it's time to start looking for a new TV.
I know this is probably not the answer you are looking for but I would suggest that spending anymore money on repairs will most likely be a waste of your hard earned cash.
The blue spot is most likely either an alignment problem or a weak projection tube. Both problems will cost you unknown amounts of cash to repair.
Hope this will help to put the proper perspective on your problem.

Greetings,
Take a deep breath, Hold it. Now relax and sit down and read the owners manual. I know it can seem like information overload but the only way to know what your doing is to follow the directions in the owners manual.
Hope this suggestion will help you out.

Hitachi Television Yellowing on the screen

Suggest you call Hitachi and complain. There is an issue with all projection LCD tvs (not just Hitachi) was that the light engine assembly did not have enough vents for cooling. This translates in a green or yellow blob that starts small and grows larger because the LCD screen frame starts to deform with the heat. Guess they did not test with young kids in the house and the tv on more than it is off :-). In March I managed to get Hitachi to pay for the part and I paid for the labor to get this fixed (out of warranty). The new light engine supposedly is better at cooling though I do see a faint 1/4 inch band of green at the bottom of the screen. Blackburn Electronics in Anderson IN has fixed many of these in the Indianapolis area.

1998 50" Rear Projection Hitachi Model #50SBX70B--NO picture

You should try to do an A/C reset on this unit. You will need to power the unit down, then unplug the unit from the wall, leave it for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. The other thing you might want to do is check your input source, if the input source is some sort of set top box, you might want to try the same with it, only leaving it for 1 whole minute. If these don't work, you probably will need to contact service.

Green vertical lines on the screen

Sounds like you may have some bad filter capacitors in the convergence board. Better take a close look at them before they damage the chips. Good Luck
