Sounds like your convergence modules have gone bad. They have 21 close spaced pins to unsolder and resolder. You'll need a soldering iron with a fine point tip and thin gauge solder to do the repairs yourself. Solder bridges between pins are common when soldering these module pins, so have some unsoldering wick handy if you're going to fix it yourself. C707 is just a simple capacitor that is very easy to remove. If you are askign this question it sounds like you are realy winging it which is never a good idea. You may want to instead get a complete repair kit from www.tvrepairkits.com for this model. Don't try that if you are talking about one of the three lens, very easy to open the wrong way and have the Glycol come out all over the place and it is toxic.I know these sets well--just let me first know what the set is doing and not doing!

If its a Sony and a DLP a lot of times just before the lamp life ends it gives a darker or dim picture---if it gets dim enough set will shut down.

l would check to see on a rear input (audio/video) if this happens and if using a coax connection wiggle the cables with set on and doing this--a poor shield connection on a coax cable will do this also.Trying the rear input will rule things out and may offer a way around the issue.

It is an older set but when was the last time the 3 lens were cleaned? If a while that may be your problem.These sets were designed to have the lens cleaned once a year--there is also a mirror but unless very dusty or a smoker not usually an issue.Remove back cover with set unplugged---note the three large black round housings on top----clean the lens with a paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on the towel.This is the light source for your picture and if dusty picture will be darker and duller looking.Let me know if questions.

you can obtain a universal remote form a suppler of your choice, IE Walmart, you can then set your new remote to your TV as per instructions your remote came with, this will allow access to the menu and other features

You have a bad solder connections on the vertical IC (integrated circuit). The vertical IC is a inline pin arrangement black IC on a metal heat sink of aluminum. This is the best description I can give you because I am limited on information on this model. The bad solder connections should be clearly seen. Solder the pins with rosin core solder and electronic soldering iron.

Their is No Reset Button on these TVs.

It's the problem of overheating in the power supply board of the TV.on the power supply board of the TV there are few capacitors and IC.any of this ic is got short or may be weak.so due to this when you start the TV the current passes from electric outlet to the power supply board of TV.but when the current passes from that weak/faulty part at that time current gets stopped or slow and the board overheats and TV shuts off. this is a common problem faced by many other users too.the possible option to solve this issue is to check the power supply board by a meter and continuity tester and replace the faulty component on the board which is short due to which power supply board is getting overheated.its bit technical job but yes its not at all a costly repair to do or get it done by the technician. for required parts it can be easily available from local electronic hardware shop.

This kind of symptoms indicated that the power supply gone to protection mode. There's one of the output voltages gone bad which trigger the symptoms. Let me know if your handy with electronics because there's a test point in the power supply board needed to test to determine which voltage supply gone bad.
Working in this kind of symptoms must know safety precaution working in the active voltages and have necessary tools and test instrument like the multimeter.
Status of the led light in the front panel will also help to narrow the test points.

Replace power board

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from www.TvRepairKits.com

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

• Screen looks 3D

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.
