I am not positive but if this set was made around 2001 or 02 they had a lot of problems with the sound circuit.

With the set unplugged and the back off if you see (looking from the back) a small circuit board mounted on the left inside wall of the set (about 4x6 inches) that is the entire audio board for the set.

What I have done is with back off and sound out tapped on the board, if sound comes and goes at all the board is your problem.

Someone in these sets had the not so bright idea of putting everything on that small board, surface mounted parts on both sides of the board. The audio output device is on a larger metal heat sink near the middle and heat from it breaks connections all over the place.

Not customer repairable and our shop will not attempt the resolder job, best bet is to if this the case is remove the board (it is easy to get out) and get a quote from someone like PTS electronics who does rebuild these boards. (we have used them but it is not cheap).

Boards have not been available for several years for this from Hitachi.

Understand, all audio from tuners and av inputs goes through this board; One customer did buy a surround sound system and with it connected to a cable box was able to use the set with sound via the tv tuners.

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems that you have to replace the convergence IC and check power resistor for leakage, if values are not exact you have to replace them. The typical cost to get this fixed by a pro is about $300 - and it doesn't mean that he/they will do a job better than you do. The parts are less than $100 (about $20-$30 for the IC's) if you want to do it yourself. Replacing only the IC's MAY solve the problem; however, many people have also had blown resistors requiring replacement. Why would you ask should you replace both of the IC's if only one is shot?! If one is shot the other one is not far away and for that little price of the chips it worth changing them both at the same time. Also the convergence board should be checked for cracked solder. If you replace the ICs and the resistors are shot, the ICs may blow again almost immediately, meaning you may have to do the repair twice. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

I have the same problem with mine, I can also do the ol Fonzy hit it on the side and the sound will come back on. I have re-soldered many bad looking solder joints and I have finally tracked it down to a part # LSK1aF-5v it is located on the board that the main power plugs into at the very back behind a large transformer. The part can be found at parts.o2xygen.com/parts/l/46.html .

hello have you tryed connecting a scart block with white red and yellow wires put scart block into ext1 or av1 all depends on your tv set up good luck

hello that chirpping sound could be a blown capacitor or a transistor thats gone short circuit also when the light flashes that gives you an error code hope you get fixed

Go into your MENU most likely under Audio and look for Closed Caption, it should say on the screen which controls on the remote to navigate with. It might also be under Features you will then be able to turn it off.

use the advanced options page and reset the factor blue and red convergence defaults then do re apply the auto color defaults color at first it seemed very red (which is good because red was the missing factor in the green picture) but after reseting all the color and tints to the normal ranges I then reset the color auto correct again and all seems fine.

fuse is out on the signal pcb

the problem is convergance the amplifiers (two of them) have failed. posibly some resistors or pico fuses are bad along with them. they need to be replaced then realiegn the convegance. the cost of repair may be $200.00 to $350.00 depending on the tech you get.

A bad solder on the TV cause of external overheating of the Television..

The IC is no doubt bad due to powering it up with the solder bridge. may possibly need entire convergence board unless you have the service manual and troubleshoot it.
