My 51" Hitachi Projection TV got wet. At first it wouldn't come on at all, but now it comes on with sound but the picture is very dark. Every few seconds the picture lightens up to normal, but t
When electrical equipment gets wet the absolutely last thing you should do is switch it on to check if it still works as that can cause expensive damage, terminal damage and even fire.
The appliance should be isolated from the electrical supply or battery immediately. It is a good idea to remove whatever casings and covers that can be removed and carefully mop up whatever liquid that is obvious. Turn the appliance over in various directions to drain any liquid and repeat the mopping operation until no more liquid is visible.
You didn't say what the liquid was?
Clean water is relatively ok but other liquids could have permanently killed it unless the affected circuitry is washed/cleaned.
Once the initial mopping out has been completed the appliance should be positioned near a warm radiator in a well ventilated area. Smaller items can be positioned on the radiator or placed in the airing cupboard.
Complete drying will take up to several days. I usually allow 2 weeks of gentle warmth and good ventilation before reconnecting to the power supply.
