check the tv for any buttons on top or front or side of tv. there should be some manual buttons to switch to menu and/or volume buttons. or buy universal remote control and program your tv via the accompanying code list, if your model tv is not incuded, try www.manualsonline.com with your make and model tv and download manual, they should have codes for universal remotes in it

this sympton is cause by a breakdown in the video amplifier, ABL (automatic brightness limiting) circuit, crt circuit or in the horizontal circuit and high voltage circuits. according to your experience, it seems that a certain component is already deteriorating, when it becomes hot it looses its function. probably ic, transistor, resistor or capacitor in the above circuits. but im sure its not the tube which is the most expensive of all the parts.

I have the same tv but no manuel.The remote has the code R-40A01 printed on it.I too am upset that there is no help on the Goodmans website for this model.

Perfect picture on TV, DVD and VCR, but no color means you have selected the wrong color system.Since you are in the UK, make sure that the VCR Color system is also set to PAL. Perhaps it is wrongly set to SECAM?

Did you try pushing the On button of the set? New batteries for the remote? Power Reset, unplug from the wall socket, press and hold the power button for one minute, plug it back in?

Time for a new TV, in most cases plasma sets aren't worth fixing, parts are hard to find an costly plus one issue can lead to another, not something most people can fix without electronic experience
