If you can login to the router, go to the admin settings and change the password.

Try a factory reset. You can do a factory reset by logging into the router using you browser. Go to the settings and perform a factory reset If you forgot the router password, you ill have to do a factory reset by locating a small hold on the back of the router and insert the tip of of paper clip for about 10 seconds while the power is on. The router will be reset to out of box status and then you can ssets-up form scratch.

Different games have different settings so I'm not 100% which configuration you will need.
Also, if you navigate to the configuration setup by opening a web browser and entering the IP address of the router (ie:192.168.0.1). Click on.Setup.and then click.Wireless.Settings on the left side. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Next to Security Mode, select WPA-Enterprise. Next to WPA Mode, select Auto, WPA2.Only, or.WPA.Only. Use ... Key Update Interval, enter the amount of time before the group key used for broadcast and multicast data is changed (3600 is default). Next to Authentication Timeout, enter the amount of time before a client is required to re-authenticate (60 minutes is default).

I am sure it is now toast and you cannot downgrade if the wrong firmware has been installed. I would ask D-Link.

the manual is free , at dlink dot com you push the reset button for long time per manual 15sec (iirc) the release it and now all defaults are set. per the manual, google dir-655 manual. easy as pie if you just read the manual.

There's a reset button on the back of the router, it's a small button that you can press using a paper clip. Press it for 15 seconds to reset it.

Reset 1:
Press the reset button for 15 seconds at the back of the router while the router is on.

Reset 2:
Press the reset button for 15 seconds while the router is on after 15 seconds unplug the power cord while holding the reset button then count another 15 seconds and release the reset button. Then plug the power cord back in.

Reset 3:
Press the reset button for 15 seconds while the router is on after 15 seconds unplug the power cord while holding the reset button then count another 15 seconds and plug the power cord back in while the reset button is plugged in and count another 15 seconds release the reset button.
