GE lectric Slimline 1Way VHS Rewinder 85201 - Page 5 Questions & Answers
My GE profile Advantium microwave will not power on. Fuses checked.
Cause 1
Line Fuse
If too much current passes through the microwave circuitry, the line fuse will blow. If the line fuse blows, the microwave won't start. To determine if the line fuse is at fault, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the fuse does not have continuity, replace it. In addition, you should investigate and resolve the problem that caused the fuse to blow. If you don't resolve the underlying issue, the new fuse will blow too. (Caution: The microwave oven can store thousands of volts of electricity in its high voltage capacitor, even after the microwave oven has been unplugged. Due to the potential for electric shock, it is extremely dangerous to replace the electronic components in a microwave. Only a licensed technician should replace the line fuse.)
Cause 2
Main Control Board
The main control board might be defective. However, this is rarely the case. Control boards are often misdiagnosed-check all of the more commonly defective parts. If you have determined that all of the other components are working properly, replace the main control board. Older ge tv 'on' button wont work on tv anymore but will occasionally work so how do i program a universal remote if i cant turn tv on
1. Find the model number for the TV. It will be located on the back of the chassis, possibly molded into the case.
2. Write it down.
3. Google "download service manual for xxxxxx(model number)
4. Obtain the manual. (They are often free to download.)
5. Look at the dis-assembly instructions to locate the power switch. I have been repairing all types of electronics since the mid 1960's and would not hesitate to do this, BUT, I still find the electricity when i am careless.
6. IF it is necessary to get near the BIG TUBE, take the TV to the nearest shop for repair. Even when those old CRT TVs have been turned off the tubes are still partially powered on. If you unplug the TV and leave it unplugged for a week, there is a very good chance of finding the internal power when you put your hand inside the chassis. This is NOT GOOD!!
6. Decide if it is too much trouble to dis-assemble the TV to the point you can add wires to the existing switch. Because you will have to locate the switch contacts and add two wires that run from the existing switch contacts to a new switch. The new switch must be wired in parallel to the existing switch contacts and mounted solidly preferably to the outside the chassis.
7. If you decide this is too much trouble etc. Replace the TV. It is NOT worth getting an electrical shock that can be fatal.
8. Pacemakers provide MUCH lower voltages and currents that those old TVs.

Programming Notes
• If your device does not respond to the remote after trying all codes listed or your brand is not listed in the code list, use the Auto Code Search method to program your remote.
• Sometimes the first code that "works" with your device may operate only a few functions of your device. There may be another code in the code list that performs more functions. Try other codes from the code list for more functionality.
This is a trial and error procedure; and quiet time consuming. You might have to check different codes said for your device.
Search the site by type in the "
brand name" to your device; to which you want set-up codes; in the "
Search box at the top right of the display window" to get gathered related posts.
