Yamaha P95 Digital Piano Questions & Answers
Hello- my P95 sustain pedal
This is confusing... you say "the sustain works when you disconnect the cord"? How can that happen? and doesn't work when it is plugged in.
MOST sustain pedal problems are due to people using a different pedal than the keyboard is designed to use. It is very common that someone tries to use a Roland sustain pedal on a Yamaha and oof course it doesn't work because the Roland pedal is normally closed and Yamaha usually requires a normally open contact.
A FEW keyboards now check the state of the pedal input when power is first turned on and configure the pedal polarity accordingly. For these keyboards, make sure the pedal is plugged in before power is turned on.
Sounding a half step too high
Use the factory reset
Hold down highest white key whilst turning on
This should return to factory settings - pitch should now be back at A440
If you need to adjust then see page 19 of the user manual where it explains fine tuning.
No sound
Take it to a tech... What are you going to do to fix it, hit it with a big rock?
MY YAMAHA P-95 PLAYS NOTES i DONT PRESS
Haha yes - I know the feeling...fingers are nowhere near the keyboard the "BANG!" a note or a cluster of notes happens out of nowhere! :)
Easiest solution will be to take it in to our local Yamaha Dealer and have them clean the contacts. Dust and hair can get between the keys and cause all sorts of problems with the sensors/contacts.
I have learnt to clean them myself using a photographic blower brush, and if you're daring, give it a go. If not - don't risk it :)
