Archos Gmini XS202 MP3 Player Questions & Answers
I went to turn on
is there a battery that can be removed? that way you could do a "hard restart"
ArcLibrary wont update
I had similar problem at Archos Gemini 202s. ARClib would crash. I solved as follows: Created a folder on the 202. Moved half my files and folders from the Music folder (via de PC, of course). Then checked for correct update of ARClib. If not, I swapped the contents of the folders and checked with the other half. If update is succesful, it is now known what half is the faulty one.
Now, try to troubleshoot this faulty half in the same way. And so on. Quite quickly, you know what file(s) cause the problem. Good luck!
My player is telling me that i need to format the
Somehow the data has gotten corrupted and it can no longer read the contents, or worse, memory failure. You might be able to salvage some of the data by connecting it to a computer and copying the files to the computer. Then, disconnect and let the player format the memory.
Repairing the GMini XS202
try this :
This works on most mini electronic devices like cellular phones and degital cameras etc .
it sounds crazy .
Remove the back (or Cover ) of the phone( or Camera ), battery, and SIM if your phone ( or Device ) uses one , DIRECTLY
.
Then, with a q-tip (or something similar), dab the connection points (shiny, goldish) on the battery, SIM, and phone. This should aid in drying.
Finally, place all contents in a bag of uncooked rice (separately, do not put back together just yet). it sounds crazy , but it draws the moisture out.
It normally is working after just 7-8 hours, but I would wait 12 hours or even 24 hours before attempting to use (just to be sure).
beware the water damage, despite being dry now, will void any warranties. Also, the phone's hardware is now weakened and if you drop it, the green mother board and circuitry could shatter - so be more careful.
This does work on electronic devices aside from phones as well. Simply tailor it to your device. If you do not have a SIM (Verizon phones, cameras, all others), remove only the battery. If you have an iPhone/iPod or GPS and cannot remove the battery, simply make sure it is all the way off, then put it in the rice bag. All electronic devices react the same to the rice trick.

Turn on hangs on opening
Possible causes and solutions
1 The hard drive within your player has failed, not uncommon and a real pain to fix for all but the real hands on techies. requires replacement hard disk likely same size required.
(unfortunately most likely problem) it will probably be accompanied by an unusual clicking noise coming from the player when held to your ear.
2 The hard drive within your player has become corrupt or something similar and requires formatting. Simple for any IT person to do. I'm no expert on this model and am too lazy to check but even holding down the reset button for 30 seconds or so may fix it.
Good luck hope i helped.
Gmini hard disk reading problems
My Gmini XS202s did this twice both time cause the battery went flat while moving files across (I should always charge device while connecting to PC)
First time I reformatted device as FAT32 using fdisk (Windows formatting tool should do same)
Then downloaded latest AOS and copied to root directory. [get AOS from http://www.archos.com/support/support_tech/updates.html?country=gb&lang=en]
second time I ran mkdosfs /media/disk (disk was mount point for gmini). This seemed to fix the device and I lost about 20 files. but better than reformat.
Not swich off
Hold down the stop button for 15 seconds to try and force the unit to power off. Then leave it for a couple of days whilst the charge dissipates. Look at the charger you used and compare its output voltage to that of the Archos one.
If the voltage is higher than the Archos one it is quite likely that the charge circuit and or the battery may have been adversely affected.
If the unit still misbehaves after a few days changes are you will need to have it looked at. If it is in warranty, try a claim, but do not mention you used the wrong charger!
Archos 605 wifi lcd screen keep turn off
If your Archos 605 WiFi LCD screen keeps turning off, it may be due to a few reasons:
- Battery issues: If the battery is low or has a poor connection, the LCD screen may turn off intermittently. Try charging the battery fully and checking if the problem persists.
- Power settings: The device may be set to turn off the LCD screen after a period of inactivity. Go to the device settings and adjust the power settings to keep the screen on.
- Firmware issues: If the firmware is outdated or corrupted, it may cause the LCD screen to turn off. Try updating the firmware to the latest version available.
- Hardware issues: If none of the above solutions work, it may be a hardware issue with the LCD screen or its connection. You may need to take it to a professional technician to diagnose and fix the problem.
I hope this helps!
