It may have this silent option in either choice for volume or melody. My doorbell has numbered buttons that need to be pressed together with the button to open the door, in order to access these functions.
Another thought is that a battery needs to be replaced.

I would caution hiding transformers under a bed because they can get hot, overheat fail and cause a fire. You can certainly use an extension power bar with a a circuit overload breaker in it, but move it somewhere other than under the bed. You could even fix the power bar to the wall a bit higher up and make use of it as long as your daughter knows the dangers of electricity.

Presume this is a Security Camera system as opposed to a Sony HandyCam, so I moved it to the Home Security category from 'Power Computers'.
The system has lost the feed to the camera because the power flicker was a power disconnect. You should have it on a backup UPS backup.
You need to reinstall the camera feeds.

If you are so sure that your CCTV is online, then you need to download the mobile app for your smartphone and configure it by using your DVR or Camera serial number, if you can view your CCTV through the mobile app, then your CCTV is truly online. In order to troubleshoot it on your laptop, you need to make sure that you install updated flash player and also install the CCTV plugin on your laptop.
