Replaced belts, old ones totally degraded.
If I insert a cassette it will play but only play for 2 seconds (good audio out) but then it stops?
It is important to thoroughly degrease the pulleys before fitting the new belts and it also helps to remove some of the polished drive surfaces with some fine Scotchbrite.
It can also be the perfect time to apply a little light machine oil here and there with a precision oiler.
Finding new belts can be a problem. Most people left to their own initiative will select a belt that fits, often using the old belt as a pattern or by measuring. Unfortunately it is rare the correct size of belt will provide enough friction to drive everything successfully. As a general rule the square or round section belts of the right size must be stretched considerably in order to do the job. Even flat neoprene belts must be stretched by a large amount to fit and drive.
In the absence of knowing the correct size it is well to measure and guesstimate a suitable size smaller and then fit progressively smaller until satisfactory operation is achieved.
Aiwa nsx-520 cd player discs not spinning
I have not serviced that model or CD players for a long time. Going from general experience I found a number of reasons. There are a fair number of things that can cause this type of fault. My not be simple. An experienced tech who knows CD players, with the service manual and the proper test tools he should be able to find the failure point.
Some things the tech would check for:
The drive motor.
The servo drive circuit.
If when the disk is inserted, and the disk gets a kick spin and then stops, this could be the laser or the laser circuits are not reading the disk.
It can also be something where inadequate power is getting to the servo drive circuits.
