Please remove the RAM from the cabinet after poweroff and then reinsert it after 10 min.
Then start PC. Hope this will work.

How to replace the cmos
it's the round silver battery right on the motherboard.... unplug the computer first. there is small tab that you move sideways with your fingernail. when that clip is moved far enough the battery will pop out of the holder... to replace the battery put it back into the holder with the round side toward the clip and push down gently... it should snap into place.

check the following:
1. is the volume of your speakers up?
2. do you have bouth the the plug the goes to the pc going to right trs port? (it should be green), is it all the way in
3. if your speakers are self-powered... do you have the power cord plugged in?
4. on the sytem tray area (where the clock is) look for a gray speaker icon, left click on it.. is the volume up?.. is box that says mute unchecked?
5. on the same icon as in number 4. right click and click on open volume controls:
a. check the main volume is up and mute is not check.. check same controls for wave, audio cd and others.. make sure the controls are not only up as desired but that they are not muted.
6. did you just install a sound board?.. check it's properly configured and working by checking
device manager by gointo to start>right click my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager, look under sound and video devices.. if you see an icon with a ! or ? you may have a driver issue.. reinstall the driver that came with the sound card or download a new driver from the manufacturer website... or try to do a windows update and look for an update for your sound card.
hope it helps!

If it's more than 3 years old, it might need a new "cold cathode fluorescent" tube.
If you have hands as steady as a surgeon, aren't afraid of high voltage or flying glass, and know how to solder, you might be able to purchase a lamp on digikey dot ca or dot com for fifteen bucks.

Dear kgreen13,
You may have a version of Explorer that has been infected with a virus or with spyware. If you can, start your machine in Safe Mode (press F8 just before the Windows logo appears.) When it comes up go to Start, Run and type "msconfig". Slect Diagnostic Startup and restart your machine. Go in the internet and if you can run a free spyware checker like the ones at McAfee.com or Symante.com and try to get your system cleaned. If successful return to "msconfig" and return it to normal startup.
Good luck.
