Try a factory reset to this set. To do this, you have to enter its service mode option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. This sounds like a very common issue.

If set is hard to turn on (have to try several times) but will eventually turn on here is what my guess would be.

Every set has a standby power supply that is running 7/24 if the set is plugged and it supplies voltages to the remote circuit that turn the main power supply and the set hence ON.

This is an area where companies cut corners by using lower rated caps. By this I mean standby usually supplies under ten volts to to trigger the set on----what they do is use a filter capacitor/s rated at say ten volts max in a circuit with 9 volts----With the standby on all the time the filter caps (electrolytic caps) dry out inside and fail.

The problem usually begins where you have to turn set on one or two times and gradually gets worse---takes longer and more tries to get it to come up.

Once its on it will stay on until turned off for a period of time.

The caps will begin to work better (regain some of the capacitance) as they get hot===hence once on it will seem ok.

The beauty of this problem is most of them happen when the set is a year or two old and all you have to do is look at them.

They are generally black and round and vary in size---they have two connections on each: a plus and a minus---easy to replace.

The tops are silver and metal looking with creases in them and if bad in this way they will be puffed up on top----the tops must be flat and perfectly so.

If this is your problem once you id them by location(make a drawing of them) you will find the plus and minus marked on the board as well as a location number for each.

Here is the critical part--on side of each cap the value is also marked like 220 uf 10vdc= 220 microfarad at 10 volts DC (maximum working voltage) if you find for example 6 puffed up and all are 10 vdc replace with same value but go up to at least 16 volt or higher rated caps.

The only issue is when you go up in voltage rated value the cap is larger so sometimes a issue of space to fit them in the board.

The reason they cheapen these sets this way is if 10 caps and you make 25,000 sets the difference in part cost for those is enough to be important to the maker.

They do not care as long as it lasts the usual 1 year parts warranty.

I have taken the time to be long winded because this really sounds like what your problem may be.

This power supply board is also used in Viewsonic VX2835W. The main problem are 4 bad/defective capacitors and shorted legs due to bleeding of soldering lead (brownish color).

1. 22uf 400v
2. 47uf 50v
3. 1uf 100v
4. 22uf 35v

You can find them near the PWM IC controller (U601). Replaced all these capacitors regardless they look good. I pulled them out off the board and tested them with my Blue ESR and capacitor tester and found 3 were defective.

Next, you need at least 97% Isoprophyl alcohol and toothbrush to clean the soldering paste. Due to overheating on the primary section / HOT section the soldering leads tend to produce brownish paste which is causing the component parts to SHORT. Concentrate at the back of the board, especially at the U102 (16-pin IC) and Q202 by scrubbing these IC and transistor carefully. I used magnifier to make sure the legs are clean and shiny. Clean the rest of the back and some part on top of the board. Let it dry for 2 hours at least. I did 2 times this cleaning to make process.

On my VX2835W main board has 2 bad capacitors at C124 and C126. I replaced them and cleaned also the board with alcohol.

Remove the TV from the power for a few minutes, and then power on, then check the volume, effectively you have reset the set. If it still will not work, check the manual for any sleep settings etc, and work through the setup again for the channels. Now if none of that works, and it isn't a remote control issue? Then unfortunately you indeed have a problem with the set and it will need to be serviced. it will most likely be a microprocessor and ambient background noise sensor or the like, this will have to be replaced. To this end get a "Quote" from a certified repairer, and go from there?

Problem is in either power supply or the Y-Sustain board.

The Y-Sustain is a relatively large board out of which go connections to the side of the display; it's therefore closer to either the left or the right side of the display, has at least one rather large heat sink on it and fat power cables connecting it to the main power supply.

Often there are fuses on that board - one or more. Check those.

if they are blown you can try to replace them, but expect them to blow again - usually the whole board needs to be replaced.

Sounds like either three things are happening - 1 check your buttons on the tv and remote to make sure the menu button isnt stuck or doesnt have pressure on it to cause this 2 - your av card is bad or 3 your tv is possessed. :-) I'd check 1 and 2 first.

Replacing caps is not hard unless you don't know how to solder. Then it becomes rather easy to cook the new caps or the board.

First you need screwdrivers etc to get inside the case and get everything apart. Bad caps used in power sections will either bulge or leak. The top will budge out/up slightly. Normally they will be flat or slightly indented. They are cheap so the usual practice is to replace all of the power section caps in one go. If the power fluctuated enough it can have damaged the rest so if you just replace the bad caps you may get it all running and have one of the 'good' ones fail a little while down the road.

So the first thing you do is mark the cap out and make a shopping list of what you need. Caps are rated in farads and volts. You can;t change the farads or micofarads for these and you can only use the same or greater volt rating never down. So if they are the same physical size then the solder pads will line up and thats the last thing to match up.

To remove them you need a soldering iron and solder wick (aka solder braid) and sometimes solder. You place fresh solder wick on the solder pad of the part, place the hot iron on it and as it heats both wick and solder the solder moves into the braid.You move the the other side and repeat. At this point it should move or be loose. Sometimes when they are stubborn you have to apply solder then desolder. This helps flow the solder out. Eventually it will come off. And repeat as required for the rest of the caps. If you do a video search for desoldering (google, bing, youtube) you should find one that shows this technique in a bit of detail. Surface mount stuff is not hard just different to do.

To solder them is quite easy. Clean the pads free of solder using more braid. The solder one pad. Place the cap on top (making sure its polarity is the right way) heat the solder, make sure the cap is in the right spot so it touches both pads and remove the heat. When the solder cools you just apply solder the the other pad and that should be it.

The soldering iron should be no more than a 15w with a grounded tip. The tip shape can either be a fine/small chisel or a needle point. Solder has to be electronic solder and fairly fine.
A pair of tweezers or forceps is handy. And you want lots of light.

As far as a schematic I can't help you with that. Not sure one is even available for this unit. I won;t say that you shouldn;t attempt this as it is a fairly simple job but if you can get some piece of junk board and practice pulling the parts off and putting them on. Then you won;t be getting up to speed on the good stuff.

Got the same problem for a N3250. I'm not an electronic engineer and will attempt to fix my TV. Therefore I got the FSP2123F02 ($49.75)and now they have a harness 4WT0062302GP ($8.90) that will do a quick plug and play and will avoid any solder of the pins. That is my understanding can anyone corroborate this procedure. By the way I got both products from electronica-usa.com

Check the power supply for bad caps, also lookto see if you have shorted circuits in the backlights inverter board also.

It may have dying power supply due to bad caps (bulging top), cold solder joints.
You need to inspect them and take the voltage reading before and after the problem started.
