Top 20 ViewSonic N3250W Television - Page 3 Questions & Answers

check the power supply, it seems to be a common problem with this tv. this website was made by some brilliant french guy and it gives a lot of good information about the problem, and how to fix it. I recommend either getting a new board from one of the suppliers he lists or do as I did and get the small chip and solder it in or have someone do it for you. mine is working great and I only spent $20 on the chip.

i didn't get a new board, but replaced the chip as described at the end of this website. tv is working fine.

check it out. if you want to replace the board, he has listed suppliers for that as well.

check out this website, it's got everything you need. I have to give all the credit to Alain, a brilliant guy in France who dug in and solved the problems. he gives instructions for the professional to fix the problem, but he also gives the sources for the power supply board to be purchased and for the little chip that causes most of the problems. I decided to take a risk and save some money and bought just the chip for $20 and very carefully soldered it in after removing the old one. The tv is fine a month later. The board comes out with no soldering, just some quick connectors and the back of the tv will come apart after you remove all the screws and the base by gently prying the back case from the front bezel along the sides of the tv. if you look closely, you will see the small cavities to pry from.

here's the website:

Yeah, my 19 year old daughter did the same thing. I found a solution on the 2750W thread

Solution - just press Menu, Enter and Power buttons at once.

At first my tv would work for about 8 hours, then the backlight and audio would die. The light stays green like it is on. now it will work for an hour before it does it. I'm guessing it is the related to this problem. On the viewsonic store they have the PSU board, However it is out of stock. If you can get them to send you the part It is an extremely easy fix. As soon as I find a power supply I'm going to see if works.

Unfortunately, my experience with LCDs says that when you see something like this, it usually indicates that the LCD screen is cracked. If you press gently in the area of deformity and it goes clear then returns to black when you remove pressure, it's a tell-tale sign of a cracked screen. Go to e-bay and see if you can get a replacement screen if you're mechanically up to changing it yourself, else an electronics repair shop might be your only hope.

Did you buy the TV online? Otherwise the retailer should be able to provide an exchange on a TV only that old. If you bought it online then you are kinda stuck in that situation. Although there are great benefits to buying online, one of the major problems is handling warranty claims on merchandise. Sorry for your problems. One thing you can do to maybe give them some incentive is to speak to a manager and tell them if you do not have your television fixed and back within the next two weeks, you will contact the Better Buisness Bureau and report them.

First make sure that the current input Source is set to TV to see the option for scanning for channels. There is a Source button on the front of the TV. (It's on the right side as you look at the front of the TV.) The Source button on the original remote is on the left side below the number keys. There are two RF (coaxial) cable inputs near the VGA port on the back of the TV. The digital RF signal needs to go to the port above the VGA port.

To scan for analog channels, press the Menu button. Then navigate to the TV setup option with the Up/Down arrows. Press OK to enter the menu. You can use either the Auto search or the Manual search. However, the Auto will be faster. You can set your country or leave it to Auto. Navigate to Start and press OK for the Auto-scan. There is a DTV menu button above the Volume + button on the remote. Use this menu and look for the Installation section to scan for channels. Again there is an Auto or Manual option.

ManualsLib has the manual for the Viewsonic N3246W here: See page 23 for the start of the analog TV channel scan information. See page 30 for the digital TV scan.

I hope this helps.

(For any channel provided by a set-top box, you will not be able to use the TV to store the channel lists.)

Some Viewsonic monitors have a Power Lock feature. However, these tend to be on the monitors (like the Viewsonic VA2265Smh) with only 5 control buttons. To toggle off the power lock, press and hold the button labeled 1 (Menu/Save/Exit) and the down arrow button for 10 seconds. The N2201W TV has more buttons than that. There is no Power Lock identified in my Viewsonic TV manuals. However, you might try the press and hold Menu/Down arrow combination.

I hope this helps.

To toggle the OSD lock off, press the Vol + and Vol - buttons on the Viewsonic N2011 simultaneously. This is shown in the manual on page 8, see . I believe these buttons are on the back of the unit on the right hand side as you face the TV.

I hope this helps.

Do a reset to this TV, and then check. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done./

This sounds like a configuration issue to me, which your user manual should explain thoroughly.

If not, Home Depot sells a small, cheap switch that you plug into your electrical outlet, and then plug your TV into that. I guarantee that if you get one, flipping the switch WILL turn the TV off. Maybe not as convenient as you might like, but highly effective.

EXACT remotes are often VERY expensive... I would recommend a NEWER "Universal Remote" that will not only empower your TV, but enable you to use FEWER remotes!

Here is a EIGHT FUNCTION REMOTE Starting at $7 from Target!

GE Universal Remote Control 8 Device Fully Backlit DVR Functions Black
