Toshiba MW27F51 27 in. TV/VCR/DVD Combo Questions & Answers
Dvd player
hi there,
the Built-in DVD player only runs Region 1, if this is not bought in UK, i'm afraid it cannot play DVD's from UK.
When I turned on my tv, all I could see was a thin line across the middle of the tv.
In the old days a thin line across the screen represented a fault with the frame circuitry; the frame oscillator or frame amplifier or the scan coils had ceased to work. No scan coils these days to fail but I reckon the fault is not user rectifiable and the services of an engineer will be needed.
It is during switch-on that components are often most highly stressed especially if the internal power supply is faulty or badly designed.
Few people would use a computer connected to mains electricity without a surge protector. It is taking a while for the idea to take root but almost everything is a computer these days and contains delicate cmos chips and circuitry which can be wiped out in an instant by an actual or an induced surge or a power transient and this especially applies to televisions and increasingly even to the humble radio set.
I advise everyone to fill their homes with surge protection off all types and not to use electronic apparatus without, even some power tools.
I needed a new telephone answering machine after every electrical storm until i started using surge protection and have not needed one since.

TV does not detect remote control.
Remote control receiving sensor circuit problem in the TV. Mostly due to degradation of the sensor over a period of time.
Go close to the TV and see whether you get a response. If it responds try determining the distance back wards. If the remote works up to certain distance, the problem is weak sensor (TV).
If totally not operative it is sensor circuit problem. It could be sensor or it's associated parts.
Tv toshiba vertical problem
I had white lines 4" thick vertically for about a week, then one day powered the unit up and with in 3 seconds there was a loud pop from the rear or the unit. Any one know what needs to be replaced?
Horiz line ic 402 blown
Look for the generic number printed on the face of the chip---tda or la etc. With that try Suburban Electronics---internet catalog and they also have a 800 number.
Has sound but no picture
It likely is one of two issues if a conventional set: either no high voltage--or if someone looks in the neck of the picture tube--the filaments are not lit--and that would be fairly easy for repairs.IN each case someone who knows some basic things would have to open set and do some tests.SD TECH

My screen has one line
The problem is a vertical deflection issue, caused by bad connections on the vertical deflection ic, or needs to be replaced and one or two bad capacitors.
I have a toshiba mw27f51 27 in tv and want to hook
I am hoping that you have gotten this resolved. But if not, or if you have trouble in the future, here are some simple steps to run through. If you are at TV1, the location where the receiver box is, then you want to make sure that your tv is on channel 3 or 4. Depending on what cables you have, the tv may also need to be on an input, such as video 1 or 2. In this case, it sounds like 3 or 4 would be sufficient. If you are in TV2, where there is no receiver box, you want to make sure that your tv on channel 60 or 73. Hope this helps!!

THE DVD WON'T OPEN OR PLAY ON MY TOSHIBA
check either the front or back of television for a small pinhole, that should be the emergency eject hole, place unwound paper clip in hole to eject disk, however, this will probably be re-occuring and dvd player will need to be replaced.
