I need to set up a Wii in my son's room; it is an old Toshiba tv with av inputs on front panel. The original remote is lost and I'm using an RCA universal rcr311st that works fine for television functions but I cannot get it to switch the input to "aux" so he can use the Wii. I don't see any manual way to do this on the television itself. Is there any way to do this? Thanks Rich K

My CRT TV displays a single horizontal white line across the screen. It will flicker and try to display the picture. If you smack it you'll get a quick picture then back to a line. After about 10-15 minutes of warming up, the full picture will display and stay on (no more line)
The single line means that the vertical deflection doesn't work. And since it is working when you kick the tv or has warmed it's clearly a bad connection - open the case and reseat the wires going to the tube coil.

I have an older 32" Toshiba TV. Starting two days ago, the TV refuses to turn OFF. When I try to turn it off (using the remote/switch on the TV), the sound goes off but the video still stays on, so that the power button functions like a mute button now.
Any ideas what could be wrong?
If your comfortable doing it remove the back and unhook the connector from the inferred sensor board, then try to turn the set on with the buttons on the set and shut it off again, if it works ok then that board is bad, if you still have the issue replace the main board

My ECCO tv is locked< and i dont have the manual. Please help...
Hello 1. Press the "Menu" button on the remote control, and scroll until you come to the "Preferences" menu. Select "Parental Control and Locks," then press "OK." If your TV does not have a "Preferences" menu, go directly to the "Locks" menu. 2. Enter the four-digit PIN that you selected when you turned the Panel Lock feature on. You may have to scroll up or down to access this area. 3. Press the "Up" or "Down" buttons on the remote until you reach the Panel Lock feature. Move the cursor to select "Off," and press "OK."
Toshiba's Panel Lock feature allows you to save your settings on your television so that no one else may change them and only the On/Off switch may be utilized from the TV's front panel. Parents may find this option useful to prevent children from accessing programs containing violence and other inappropriate content. Once you turn this feature on, certain steps must be followed to turn it off again.

when i turn the tv. on, the volume line appears all the way to zero. if i turn the volume up, it goes up but when i release the up button the volume goes down all by itself.
It sounds like one of the volume down buttons is stuck in the activate position. The same as if you were holding the down volume button continuously. It could be either the volume down button on the TV or the remote. I would try remove the batteries of the remote then adjust the volume by the TV buttons.
If the volume doesn't go back down then the remote is the problem. In order to fix the remote you may need to take it apart. This is normally easy to do just locate any screws that may be holding the remote together. If you don't see any screws then you will need to pry the two sections apart. Separate the circuit board and rubber buttons and clean them both with some rubbing alcohol and reassemble it. If it still has the volume issue you may need to replace it.
If the problem persists with the remote deactivated then it's the volume button located on the TV. That is a little more difficult. You can try wiggling the button or some canned air (used to clean computer keyboards) to blow it clean. However it may need to be disassembled to gain access to the switches for proper cleaning.
Hope this helps.
