Can the dvd player be changed a toshiba tv
You are worrying needlessly. Just buy a head cleaner and run it through. It's just like the old VCRs. The heads get an accumulation on them in time, and it is certainly cheaper and easier to clean them than it is to replace the unit. Please rate this answer.

The codes for Toshiba are: 049, 071, 072, 089, 105, 109, 117, 118, 160, 162.
1.Find the three digit code(s) for your TV set.
2. Manually turn on the TV set.
3. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button until the indicator light is lit. Then release the CODE SEARCH button. (The indicator light is located above the TV button).
4. Press and release the TV button. (The indicator light will blink and then remain lit).
5. Enter a three digit code found at step 1 using the Number Buttons.(After the code is entered the indicator light will turn off).
6. Aim the remote at your TV. set and press the OFF/ON button. If your TV set turns off, then proceed to step 7. Otherwise, repeat step 3 to 5 using the next code on the list. Press CHAN up button to double check for accuracy of the code. the programming is complete if the TV set responds by going up a channel. Otherwise repeat steps 3 to 6 using the next code on the list.

Toshiba 27A33 - service mode
Here is a link for entering the service mode just like they do at the dealers.

Here is the link for the owner's manual from Toshiba's American website (the Canadian site doesn't have this one available):

Black Box on the screen
It sounds like a text box that isn't receiving any text. If it covers almost the entire screen, then you might have accidentally got the settings into DEMO mode. It could also be a box for closed captioning, but that usually covers just the lower part of the screen. Either way, the solution is to go into the setup menu and restore facotry presets.
We have cable, but only get 13 channels on this toshiba
Check in the menu options and switch one of the settings from TV to Cable. Sorry I can't remember exactly what it's called but if you find something with TV / Cable and switch it to Cable - you should be able to go over channel 13.
Upon powering on my Toshiba 36" I get the normal.......
first of all have a nice day..the problem of your tv is a COLD SOLDER meaning there's only loss solder causing by overheated component such as resistor, tranformer etc. check and look closely to all of the suspected terminals, someting looks burning, try to solder all the susupected terminal using soldering iron and solder. chek also components it maybe cracked resisitor or diodes
No picture no sound
G'Day!
Unfortunately, what you're describing is a repair
issue. You won't be able to address the problem with troubleshooting.
There is a part inside the TV that needs to be replaced. If you're
under warranty, this will cost you nothing. If you're not under
warranty the cost will likely be a minimum of $200 parts and labor.
However, be warned that the cost could be considerably higher.

Is there a way to change the input with out the remote?
G'Day!
The only way to change the input on a TV without the remote is if there is a button on the panel for that purpose. Unfortunately, most TVs don't have one so you would have to purchase a replacement remote from the manufacturer. If you want to try a universal remote first, be sure to keep the packaging (don't destroy it when you open it) and keep the receipt handy. That way if the remote doesn't work, you can return it to the store. If a universal remote fails you, call Fox International at 800-321-6993. They are Toshiba's part distributor. Have the model number ready when you make the call.

Hi there, with my toshiba 27A33 television ,the
First thing to check: could it be aspect ratio - source material is old standard 4x3 format, TV is widescreen 16x9, so it only fills center? If so, the images will look properly proportioned - circles round (not ellipses), people neither unduly fat nor skinny.
Second: if the shapes are wrong, it could be settings on source device (check DVD menu, cable/satellite set-up) and/or TV (choices like letterbox, pan and scan, stretch to fill screen, etc.)
Third: if CRT TV, could be defect in horizontal sweep circuitry, requiring repair shop; decide whether the cost is worth it, vs new TV.
Good luck!
Color
I would not recommend changing tube usually 10,000 volts on a crt so very dangerous better to buy a new tv typically around the same in price
