Why does it scroll vertically, especially on bright scenes?

Main power regulator section problem. As you increase the brightness, the DC voltage from it drops. Check all the electrolytic capacitors at that section. Replace them all at one time. How do I scan for channels for antenna on a Toshiba 27a33 without an original remote? I only get ch. 3,4, inputs 1,2, and color stream.

Without its original remote control, you can't. If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. They can either give you a genuine remote control to your device, or can direct you, from where can you purchase a suitable one.

One day the closed captions

Hello

You have two options with the closed caption feature: captions or text.

A caption is a printed version of the dialogue, narration and/or sound

effects of a program. Text is information not related to the program that
appears on half of the TV screen when available.

1* Select the desired program. Closed captioned programs are

usually marked in your local TV listing as "CC."
2* Press CAP/TEXT repeatedly to select caption or text mode.
3* Press 1/2 to select the caption or text channel

4* To turn off the closed caption feature, press CAP/TEXT
repeatedly until captions or text no longer display on-screen.

Note:

A closed caption signal may not be decoded

in the following situations:

* when a video tape has been dubbed

** when the signal reception is weak

*** when the signal reception is non-standard

When you choose a closed captioned channel

and the text mode, the text screen always

appears as a black box. When there is no

signal, however, the text screen will not

display text characters. Repeatedly press
CAP/TEXT until the box disappears
If closed captioin function is intermittent, the TVs system control section has some foult with it. It will be mainly to a leaky disc ceramic capacitor in the decoder section of the internal circuit. This is not really a user servicable option. It is a skilled work. OK.

My tv will not turn on and the standby light is

Hi,

The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to.

I do not think it needs replacement, rather some defective capacitors are causing this issue.
Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors).
After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored.

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

I hope this helps.

Good luck.

Picture rolls untl il warm

Hello

Picture rolling is due the fault in the vertical output section of your TV. To rectify this fault, you have to open your Tv, and locate the vertical output section inside it. It is so easy to locate as, there will be four wires going from the deflection yoke, that is the coil fitted on the neck of the picture tube, out of which, two of them will be thick, usually coloured red and blue, and the other two will be thin. Just follow the two thin wires, which will lead you to a scoket fitted on the circuit board. Upside down the circuit board, and trace the tracks of these wires, and you will reach to the vertical output section.
Normally Toshiba uses a 7 pin IC, number [TDA 8403K], in this section, the number may vary according to sets model, but the function will be the same for all. It will be screwed onto a metal hetsink. I advice you to resolder all the soldering ponts of that IC, by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridges between the terminals. Normally this may resolve your problem, as there is a chance to get soldering loose in this section.
If this does not help, resolder the IC out, and go for a same type and number, replace it.
If you need anymore assistace feel free to contact me through Fixya. OK.

soldering lead.

Lets proceed:
The problem is on the horizontal section of the TV main board there are capacitors there that need to be replaced (be sure the TV is unplug from the outlet before proceeding) The horizontal section is the high voltage section of the TV therefore capacitors are high voltage.replace the capacitors with the same exact value. To determine the horizontal section,It's where the plyback transformer is situated. replace the capacitors near the plyback .capacitors with 10uf/250 volts and the likes.there are also small capacitors with a high voltage rating replace it.check also the Cathode Ray Tube neck there is a small board there Crt socket replace also the high voltage capacitor there.good luck please post back if you have questions thanks

This is due to vertical deflecton problem, there is some capacitors that has gone bad and need replacing. It might just be one cap rated at 100uf 35 volts. This is called vertical foldover eventually the top will fold over or you will get a 4" black border on the top of the scrn.

Television blank , but there is a white line

Your TV is in what is called "vertical collapse". About 70-80% of the time it is due simply to bad solder joints on the vertical output IC. You can verify this by tapping on the side or top of the TV, the picture may jump back into position. If it comes back it's as simple as re-soldering the vertical IC. If not, the vertical output IC may be shot or it may be missing one of it's supply voltages.
If the picture has been shrinking or had lines at the top that means there are some capacitors in the vertical circuit that were drying out. If it happened all of a sudden I'd bank on it being just bad solder.
Don't run it like that with that bright line for too long or it will burn in on the picture tube. Then if you do get it fixed you will see that line there all the time!

Toshiba 27" Model #27D46. Turned

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. It seems to be a horizontal/vertical circuit issue. You’ll need to open the back of the unit and check/test HOT (horizontal output transformer) and flyback, replace the part that has gone bad.
This is only recommended if you have electrical expertise.
Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee
