Toshiba 32A60 32" TV Questions & Answers
Took a power hit yesterday
Hello
Infrared sensors come just behind the infrared window at the front panle of all TVs. surely it can be located at the front panel control board; soldered on to it. It is a three terminal component, and can be easly replaced, if you have some sense in desoldering it out from place and resolder a new one in place. You have to open your Tv to do this work. Just locate the fixing screws at the bottom panel and get it out from there to locate this part. In most toshiba model TVs, this component can be located at its main board itself, comes correctly just in line with the infrared window at the front, when we push the main board into it.
This is the picture of an ideal infrared sensor. You can locate its number either at back side of the body or at the side. Just insist on same type and number when you buy a new one, because even though this is a very cheap component to buy, the function of it in the circuit is great. It can be bought from most of the electronic spare part selling shops at your town. OK.

You will need to locate the vertical IC. For some reason the location is prefixed with the letter q. Q in this case refers to a transistor. In any case I believe the location will be Q301. It has been a long time since I have repaired this TV. If you find the vertical IC (I think it may be the LA78XX series IC), you will need to resolder the 7 or 9 pin IC. The cross reference in the NTE electronic book may be the NTE 7158. If you can find this number in the NTE semi conductor book (will have picture and schematic info),you will know what to look for. In the case you resolder, do not short pins with excess solder. You will also need to replace any capacitors that are near the IC. There should be a 35 volt 2.2Mf cap at 105 degrees, this will be bad. Remember this may be all you have to do. Please check the capacitors in the immediate area of the IC. May be three more caps to check. In all, the location of the IC and capacitors will be in the center and a little closer to the rear of the main board. Inspect the rest of the board for bad grounds and resolder as necessary. Also check the small board behind the CRT, it will have areas to resolder. Hope this helps. If you feel you cannot do this, find a electronic enthusiast. Show them this note. This note will save you a few bucks. Knowlege is a great money saver. Thanks for asking me and show all hands of support!
Toshiba color tv model 32A60,
Good day and welcome to fixya..
That problem is usually cause of lock of heater..
please follow this procedure on how to locate the problem:
- open the back cover
- try to power it on and look at the heater if lights up.
- the heater is found on the tail of picture tube that have small board that connected to it.
- if the heater don't have a light it means you don't have voltage supply on heater.
- look at the CRT board socket..the heater is commonly mark H1 and H2 and found in the middle of the CRT socket pins..
- if you found it..just trace the line from CRT socket to the ply-back..
- when you do that..you will see the resistor pass through that line and check it using multimeter ( range in OHMS)..
- if the resistor is open replaced it with the same value..

Hello
It is due to some misalignment fo your side, and cannot be predicted wihich fucntion overlaps the software. You just reset it to factory settings. It will make all your V-Chip settings out, and you shoud reset it after factory reset.
To reaet it to factory settings go to V-Chip menu and do the following.
Press RECALL four
times within five seconds from the V-CHIP
menu. This allows you to proceed to the
BLOCKING menu and reset your PIN code.

32" Toshiba television Mod. 3357DB
If im not mistaking I remember the toshiba 32" to have an on screen alighnment in the sevice menu.. and I would not recomend that anyone without the proper manual and tools to fool with these adj as I've seen in the past that a set had to be completely redone even the tuner alighnments after someone went in and tryed to adj the set., Now the green tinge you speak of is the CRT getting weak The best way to ajust this would be to see if on the picture tube pc board on the end of the Picture tube if it has any little control on it ? if it does look for the green drive and put on a b&w Picture. slowlty turn down the green drive control untill the pic look almost B&W and you probably wont be able to get perfact grey scale as the crt is weak . If theres no controls on the crt pcb then your gonna need a service alighnment manual and adj the green drive that way. Good Luck
Remote control SENSOR not working
This could be a fault with your remote control. It will need checking by a Television
Technician.
You can clean the remote control yourself if you are careful. You will need a spray can of
Servisol IPA 170.
- Carefully split the remote control unit along the seal between the top and bottom of the unit.
- Carefully notice how you then dismantle the inner components. (I lay the components out in the order I take them out of the unit).
- In a logical order spray, clean and dry each part.
- When you have cleaned all the components, reassemble in their reverse order of the way you dismantled the unit.
- Fit new batteries and test the remote control.
If this fails to solve the problem, you will have to take the remote control to a Television
Technician for testing.
If the remote is found to be beyond repair, visit www.semenedis.com who may be able to supply you with a replacement remote control. I trust this information will be of help to you.
Dropped daewood tv from bed. no pictures.
The circuit board inside is cracked and has broken circuit traces. This is common if a set is dropped. The usual area that gets damaged is around a part called the horizontal output (or "flyback") transformer. It's the part with a red wire leading up to a rubber cap connected to the top of the picture tube. The flyback is fairly heavy and usually there's not much support for the circuit board in that area. When the set gets dropped, the weight of the flyback can break the circuit board. This can sometimes be repaired depending on the extent of the damage. Often the breaks are very obvious and sometimes not. Some of the circuit traces are very thin and close together which makes finding and repairing the damage difficult. In some cases other parts and areas can be damaged as well. This kind of repair requires considerable troubleshooting and soldering skills, so you might want to let a professional shop give you an estimate for the repair.

I you know how to repair electronics its not a hard fix. The worst case would be the vertical output IC but im thinking th its nothing more then a capacitor in the verticle sweep circuit The average cost to repair this should be around 75 to 125 bucks. Good Luck
Toshiba 42RV500E sound issue
This is a known issue with this TV. The following might resolve it:
Check Mute and Volume:
Ensure that the TV is not muted and that the volume is set appropriately. Sometimes accidental button presses can lead to muted sound or low volume.
Inspect External Speakers:
If you're using external speakers, verify their connections. Loose cables or faulty speakers can cause sound issues.
Test Different Inputs:
Connect a non-HDMI device (such as a DVD player) to the TV. Observe if the sound distortion occurs. If it doesn't, the problem might be related to the HDMI signal from your Virgin box.
HDMI Troubleshooting:
If the issue persists with the DVD player over HDMI, consider the following:
HDMI Cable: Check the HDMI cable for damage or loose connections.
Virgin Signal: Contact Virgin to inspect the signal/lines and replace the box if necessary.
Mainboard Replacement (if needed):
If the sound distortion persists, it could be due to a faulty sound processor chip on the TV's mainboard. In this case, consider replacing the mainboard.
