I assume you are either unable to see your network listed or when you select your network from the list of active Wi-Fi Networks within range of you device and depending on security level no password or the Security Key you have doesn't work. First, make sure you have a few pieces of information: 1) The SSID or name of the network 2) The security type and password 3) If no DHCP service you'll need the ip address subnet and an available address for your device, ip address of the gateway/router, & ip address of the DNS servers. Usually the router provides DHCP and provides all of the addressing information. Typically, you are provided the SSID and a security key or password. On your tablet open settings and turn Wi-Fi in necessary and look for your SSID in the list to the right. If your SSID is not shown verify the name, that the router is on and you are within range. You will usually have to load your navigation info while you're attached to a wifi network. After that it should use the gps satellite system to navigate you. It will need to be connected to wifi to redirect you if you leave the route that is programmed in.

Google accounts are very central to the whole way that Android operates, which is why they make you setup an account the first time you turn the tablet on. you likely have software that is aftermarket you have added that is causing this hardware failure. if you set your tablet back to factory defaults does it still do this? I had a samsung that would occasionally do this, and I finally stopped installing cheap free games and other add-ons.. stick with reputable companies and don't trust your tablet to any developer that wants to write an app.

The SSID is not an indication on a label on the Wi-Fi device, it is the identifier broadcasted by the device ; to find it, two possibilities : 1) if you remember its password, access the setup of the wi-fi device (your router) ; this is done thru any computer connected to the router : simply enter the IP adress of the router (try 192.168.0.1 or find the right one using the ipconfig command) in the browser, and navigate to the wi-fi settings. 2) if you can't access the router, go to the wi-fi settings of your smartphone or tablet or netbook, and find he way to show the list of the access points available in the surrounding - yours is probably the first one (the stronger signal) in the list. when you say you cant get rid of it you really mean " it pops up every time you launch you browser, you can then navigate away from it?" if this is true you will need to set your home page to your liking and this will stop the about blank page from showing--Good Luck.
