Tv will stay on for about 10 mins. then turn off

It sounds like you are describing high-voltage (HV) shutdown. As a safety feature, if the voltage in the TV rises above a set limit, the TV will shut off to prevent possible x-rays from the picture tube. The only way to reset the shutdown is by unplugging the TV, then reconnecting the power.

This shutdown can be caused by several things. The power supply may in fact not be regulating the voltage properly because of component failure. Your power line voltage may be a little higher than usual and causing nuisance shutdowns. Or the HV shutdown control may simply need to readjusted because components have aged and changed value slightly, also causing nuisance shutdown. The HV transformer may be defective, or the picture tube is going bad.

Unfortunately, it's not possible to say what's wrong without seeing the set to check operation and determine the cause. So I can't suggest anything you might do yourself to fix this. If you want to keep this TV you should let a professional servicer check it over, determine what's needed and give you an estimate. Or you can use this as an excuse to purchase a new TV. Flat screen sets are quite reasonably priced now, and depending on what turns out to be wrong with your TV, it might be more economical to replace it.

No picture.Just a single line in middle of screen.

No, your picture tube is fine. This is a problem in the vertical circuit that deflects the beam up and down. This repair is fairly typical across most television brands and should not cost too much to fix. I don't want to quote another shops pricing but from us this would run about $150.00 to fix.

Big black box across the screen towards the bottom.

In some TV's closed captioning can cause this problem. turn off CC and see if that helps.

Hi it's me again the gal who dropped her tv

Yes, you should still have sound, providing that you have an antenna connected and are tuned to a channel. If you have a vcr or dvd player to hook up to it try that and see if you have sound.
No sound while viewing a tuned in channel or via a vcr/dvd player is not a good sign. It may have cracked the PCB inside the tv. A cracked PCB, depending on the severity, can also be repaired.
You really won't know the severity of any internal damage until it is opened up and checked over.
Is the line on the screen Horizontal (left to right) or Vertical (up and down) and is it centered on the screen? A vertical line would indicate that it may be a cracked PCB (Printed Circuit Board).

The dropped television

If it has a white line across the middle then it is probably repairable.
If the screen was cracked it could, but probably wouldn't work at all, not even a white line. The white line indicates that the vertical deflection IC has failed. Generally these IC are inexpensive and should only take an hour, if that, to replace. A good technitian should be able to repair it at a reasonable cost as well as check it over for other common problem areas.

Toshiba television

If the glass picture tube is cracked it is not repairable. In some cases it would be possible that the tv would still work if it has a cracked glass but it would not be advisable to use it as it could allow x-ray radiation to escape. The tube is a vacuum and a cracked tube would lose it's vacuum (**** air inside) and cause it to instantly burn out when turned on. Sorry :(
