How to disconnect main board in toshiba model 32a40 in order to check solder points
It can either be held in with screws on the bottom of the set, or in the set itself. It could also be held in with the plastic of the chassis that has clips on the bottom. You would usually pull the chassis and remove it from the holes. They are kinda L shaped. Be careful not to yank any wires. I would discharge the tube and unhook the neck board and the anode cup to make sure you don't yank those. Please use extreme caution when discharging a tube.

Hello
There is some loose solder terminals at the vertical output section ot your TV. Just open the TV, locate the vertical output section. There is an IC in the vertical output section, usually screwed on to a metal heatsink to radiate heat away from it while it works. The solder terminals to this IC should be noted for any loose solder points. It is a common fault to most of the CRT based TVs, regardless of brand and model.
Look at the solder terminals of this IC for any loose solderings. This loose may happen, because, this IC will heatup while working, and repeted heating and cooling may make solder points to the terminals of this IC, will cause the fault you reports here.
It will be very difficult to detect these loose solder points, as some of them may be so microscopic to detect. So do what we do on service table. Just resolder most of the suspected solder terminals of that vertical section, including all solder terminals of the vertical output IC and related parts, by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge short in between adjecent solder terminals. This mut solve the proble of your tV.
Please adjust with my language, as I'm not an English. My mother toungue is entirely differet to that of English. I only try to exchange my ideas and experience to you. OK.
I have a thin line
The fault is a failure of the deflection circuit and since you have not specified whether it is a vertical or an horizontal line the section failed will be related to the position of the line.
If horzontal the vertical IC or the section related is faulty and if Vertical the horizontal section., Now this can be the deflection IC, teh deflection coils or even discrete components like capacitors or resisitors in this section which will require a signal trace with a voltage test before the absence of the sync pulses are confirmed and the section identified.
I request not to change the IC unless it is proved but you can solder the vertical IC or the section concerned -- if there is dry soldering.
Im not sure if vertical
Hello
Your assumtion is currect. But the vertical output section of this TV has no transistors at all. It is composed of an IC. Check the soldering terminal connection of this IC legs for any loose soldering first. Just resolder all the solder terminals of this IC by applying a little more solder. In most cases this will solve the fault. If not, check all the surrounding electrolytic capacitors to this IC circuit. If found suspected, replace them. Still fault perists, replace the vertical output IC with same type and number.OK.
My tv have one line
The vertical output integrated circuit (Q301, mounted on a heatsink roughly in the middle of the main circuit board) isn't working. This is frequently because of bad solder connections, which is an easy repair if there are no other parts needing replacement. However, the device itself may have gone bad or there may be power supply problems. It's not unusual for other parts around the IC to go bad first and cause the IC to fail.
You can try resoldering the connections to Q301. If that doesn't bring the picture back, or there are other pictures problems afterward, you can see what a TV technician would charge to repair the set. I always liked the Toshiba picture quality, so if everything else was working properly and you were happy with the set it might be worth the cost of fixing it.
I have a Toshiba 32a50
hi, usually its the infrared receptor that need to be replace, he is placed near the stand by light.
in a rare case the problem is at the 5v voltage that goes to the receptor. more rare is the possibility
that something is wrong at the microprocessor circuit. good luck!

The horizontal scan lines
There are 2 or 3 filter capacitors found near the vertical IC on the printed circuit board. One of them is likely defective. It would be a relatively inexpensive repair at a repair shop. The filters cost $1 each at most.
Too Bright
There are several possibilities here. It could be a system control defect or CRT (the tube that displays the picture is a Cathode Ray Tube) drive problem. There is a remote chance it's the picture tube but it's not very likely. Nearly all the time it will be in the circuitry that drives the CRT. It's a video processor defect, that would require a shop repair.
My toshiba 32 inch tv A80AKB50X05 WILL not turn on
Hi
Thanks
for using FixYa. You’ll need to reset the TV and to reset it follow
these steps:
- Turn off the television and
wait for 5 minutes.
2. After 5 minutes unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
3. Let the television remain without power for more then 1 minute.
4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. If the television is
plugged into a power surge protector, remove it from there and plug it directly
into the wall outlet. Turn on the television. If the issue is resolved, then
the problem is with the power surge protector and not the television.
If the issue is not resolved then this might
have happened due to over-voltage. Please check the power supply unit for
swollen/bulged capacitors and burnt wires/components on the power supply board
of your TV. You should try and turn off the TV for 8-10 hours to reset it. Please make sure to turn off and
unplug the TV for at least 1 hour (this will drain off current from
all components especially capacitors) before you perform any repairs. Also note
that the TV consists of very high voltages even when it is in OFF condition.
All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise and know how to
solder/re-solder components.
Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for
further assistance.
Thanks

How do i repair my toshiba 32
In this case I think the vertical o/p IC is a AN5521?
This is an easy repair if you've ever soldered and would not be too costly for a repair shop to do it for you. The problem is a bad Vertical Output IC (usually mounted on an aluminum heat sink with the part on it labeled LA78?? ) and 1 or 2 bad capacitors. Some times you can even fix the problem by re-soldering the contacts of the IC- To find the IC follow the 4 wires that come from the Yoke (which is a contained coil of wires slipped over the neck of the picture tube(s)) back to the board. 2 of the wires go to the horizontal o/p and 2 to the Vertical o/p the thinner gauge wires are for the vertical.

Hello. Here's your instructions:
Press the MENU key. Press the up/down arrows to get to Input Connfiguration. Press the right left/keys to change to CABLE, and then press enter. Then press the up/down arrows to get to Auto Ch Search. Press the right arrow or ENTER, and let the tv go through all the channels to add them - this make take a little time.
Hope this helps, please rate! :)
