a common issue with the model indicated is convergence circuit failure.What I usually do here is locate the two stk convergence chips and unsolder all 18 pins on both.If set now comes on (will look bad) you know one of the chips is bad and both need to be replaced.Each is protected also with a usually 5 amp pico fuse, so if one of the two fuses is gone chips are bad.the set will detect that the chips have no voltage and shut set down.

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

resolder the connections on the board around the caps even though it looks good it could still have a bad connection. While your at it heat up the solder connections around other components. If this doesnt solve you problem concentrate on the high voltage section of you tv check for open resistors. And bad transistors move from there to your driver chips these may be in the in the form of high output transistor chips. If it is overheating it might be the source of your problem. Check your horizontal and vertical output chips and make sure they are not overheating as well

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projeciton sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

• Screen looks 3D
• Colors don't line up
• One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
• Screen is bowed or warped.
• TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

CONVERGENCE SOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you are handy and can follow directions. You can get complete repair kits from TvRepairKits.com or click here. They have put together DIY repair kits that include the OEM parts and step by step photo instructions for each repair. If you are not handy or can't follow directions we would suggest calling a shop.

What do you mean by can hear HV? Does it sound like some kind of high pitched buzzing noise? Did you check for arcing near the flyback?

remove the speaker covers on the bottom front of the unit. there are a few screws you remove and lift up on the screen to remove.

Try unplugging and waiting about 2 min. Then retry. There is a self protection circuit which is what is stopping the unit from coming on, but it can be triggered by many things. [Units this old are famous for the capacitors (electrolyte dries out and then they blow), but that is just the most common problem. I would look the capacitors over and see if they give any indication of being "blown" (discoloring, etc.) and replace them if they do.

Did you put the lamp door back on. Be sure lamp is seated correctly.

Check power supply and high voltage transformer.

Either you have a convergence problem if the picture when it is bad looks 3d with colors OUT OF PLACE or if it changes to a RED, Green or blue Screen you have another problem

Here is what I suggest---when it acts up--go into the customer menu and select CONVERGENCE--it will usually offer either a cross in the middle of the screen or 8 points on the screen to adjust--if you find the convergence is skewed----I can tell you exactly what is involved in this repair--

If it is another problem try your best to describe it to me: what does it look like if not 3d type picture---CONVERGENCE problems are the most common kind of trouble in this type and model set.

you need to get a new tv lamp BULB.to cheak there is on the side a cover with one srew on do pull out the square box it has your bulb in it,you will no right away that it is broken.don't order it from repair shop it will cost 600.00 get from ebay it is only 225. with shipping.

Check power supply for faults first its probably a fuse or a bad capcitor rule out your power supply first. I think you have a convergence issue. Are the colors not properly aligned - do you see multiple overlays of the same image in different colors?

If so all you need is to adjust the convergence - it should be adjustable in the user manual or by pushing the "Magic Focus" button if you have one.

I have the same or similar problem.
Only HD1 and 2 inputs work correctly.

What happen lost you?

Did you also check to make sure both pico fuse are good ?

This could be caused by several different things.. your convergence amplifier ICs could be bad, causing 1 of the 2 pico fuses to open up.. another possibility could be bad solder or defective hybrid voltage regulator to be bad (its usually a light brown color).. worse case could be a cracked picture tube hidden by the deflection coil on 1 of the 3 tubes.. might also wanr to check if the horizontal output transistor is shorted..there is also a 1A pico fuse that could be open..
