Have you checked the resistors next to the ICs these sometimes go open when the ICs fail. also a fusible link may also be open. Check the resistors near the ICs and also check anything in that area that has a FLin its location number such as FL231 and etc.
Our 57H81 is about 10
You can try cleaning the lens/mirrors of the set with a lint free cloth and a cleaning liquid made for cleaning glass. The dark image can sometimes be caused due to dust on these parts. If that does not work then I am afraid that you need to purchase replacement CRTs(the three tubes at the back of the set). Each of them produce one color - Red, Green and Blue and all 3 have to be replaced to resolve the problem, unless you can visually identify a malfunction with one of the tubes(If one of tubes is a lot dimmer than the other 2).

Tv board call the Hyper board also known as a tv convergence board it is dead.Tv have any R,G,B colors lines mis alignments, have colors shadows pictures or 3D pictures look alike?Yes,than the tv convergence must have it parts to be replaced like 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all of it resistors too.To fixed the the Hyper board also known as a convergence board will fixed tv picture convergenece problems.Tvs shops will cost u like $300-350 for parts and labors.
I cant turn tv on
Maybe the problem is in the remote. To check the remote use a cellphone camera or maybe a digital camera will do. Just focus the camera on the remote LED it is located on the top of your remote, while pressing the buttons of your remote put the camera on the LED if the remote is good you will see a blinking lights on the camera while pressing the buttons of the remote. If the light doesn't show try to replace the LED on your remote or maybe just clean it also clean the button panel with a pencil eraser, Usually the remote control is the problem, Hope this may help you if the problem still exist just email me...
Rhow do you remove captions
Hello
To make dissapear the closed caption display from the screen. press the "C-CAPT" button on the remote control once. Repeted each press, the caption display will come and go out. This button can be located at the "MENU" button square. OK.
I'm getting a double image
Your convergence has failed and needs to be repaired. Once quick test is to goto your convergence menu and see if you can adjust red and blue. If not its has failed and needs to be fixed. You can call in a repair shop or you can get the parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com and do the repair yourself. Its a fairly easy DIY fix.
Toshiba 57H81 Flashing Red Power Light, Blown Fused F850+F852
Solved by resoldering some solder joints!!!!!!!
********
Toshiba Model 57H81 Rear Projection TV - Purchased 11-09-2001
Problem: Toshiba 57H81 Flashing Red Power Light, No Picture/Sound, Blown Fuses F850 + F852
Symptoms January, 2009:
- Upon turning on set I got flashing red power light and nothing else.
- Removing plug for one minute and plugging in results in:
- Audible click, steady red power light for 2 seconds then slow flashing red light
- Pushing power button results in steady red for about 2 seconds then slow flashing red light, no other set activity
- Removing power cord for several hours and plugging back in made no change
- Audible click, steady red for about 2 seconds then slow flashing red light
- Possible related note: Over past several months occasionally the entire screen would flicker momentarily and at other times be problem free for weeks.
- Fuses F850 and F852 found blown
Repairs Made:
- PD0074 DEF/CON Power Board
- There are two main power supply capacitors in this set. They are C-809 and C-810. One their negative lead on the printed circuit board re-soldered leads and nearby contacts. I’m told that because the factory left out a printed circuit board eyelet, the connection will come loose over time. When I called Toshiba customer service they said there was a known solder joint problem causing blinking red light.
- Replaced blown fuses F850 and F852.
- I actually installed a fuse panel on the inside of the cabinet and routed the fuse connections here instead of ordering the special fuses and replacing them on the circuit board.
- Had to use a 5 Amp SLO-BLOW for F850. Fast blow does not survive power up. Get the red blinking light.
- Used a fast blow 2 Amp for F852.
- PD0073 SIGNAL Board
- Re-soldered Q751 + Q752 STK392-110 Convergence Amps
- Re-soldered adjacent pads that looks suspicious
Total Cost to Repair about $10
- Twelve hours of my time over three days to research issue, disassemble set, make repairs, add fuse panel.
- Already owned Service Manual and Circuit diagrams from a different 2004 repair.
- Less than ten dollars at Radio Shack for fuses and fuse panel. Already had wires, etc.
- Some solder. Already owned de-soldering tools, etc.
- Visited both local authorized Toshiba factory service repair facilities. One said repair would have to include replacing Q751 + Q752 STK392-110 Convergence Amps with ST392-180, and realigning set for a total of $500+ and it would be more if they had to order a power board. NO THANK YOU! Other shop said $65 for site visit and $30 to make an estimate that could be applied to repair.
Screen has green tint , tv was left on overnight
Video processor could be locked up do to a small power surge, leave the set unpluged for 40Min, and it will reset back to normal, if it don't then you might have a CRT neck baord that shorted out on the green gun.

There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section or the inverter section or both.
Any caps in these (or any) sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom need to be replaced.
If you repeatedly turn it off and on, eventually it'll probably turn on, but every time you turn it off, the TV will get harder and harder to start up until one day it just won't.
Sometimes you have to do the opposite to start it up and unplug it for some time and then try again.
If you aren't tech savvy, don't worry, read the rest of this solution and watch the videos.
If you are handy with a soldering iron and can identify the power supply and inverter / FM section for the backlights, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V or 25V or even a 50V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are positive it's only doing ripple filtering, and even then, you should go OVER, not under the uF rating).
Most of the caps that go are 10V 1000uF or 3300uF.
I found some great videos of the procedure (for many Samsungs with related issues) on youtube.

As you can see, this issue spans plasma TVs, as well as large and small LCD TVs, projection TVs and monitors.
The parts are cheap, and skill required is minimal.
I finally got my tv hooked up. but the color and

Very common problem. not a common or easy fix though. This is known as a faulty "hypermodule" The hypemodule is a cuircit board that processes the signal. At the shop i have repaired a few a these on average 2 a month. The ideal situation is to replace this cuicit board. However this was such a common occurance these boards became rare. very hard to locate. So toshiba gave service centers another option a way to repair these. It however evolves the replacement of 11 very small micro capacitors. Only the most experence tech's experenced in surface mounted soldering should attempt this repair. You can easly mess this board up and once messed up...like i said you cant find them. My best advice is to find you a qualified shop who has done this repair before. It take an experence tech around 3 to 4 hours with magnifing glass and twezzers. My shop generally charges about 300 for this repair but shops vary based on experence
Hi I receantly baught a used Toshiba projection tv
Hello
During fall in most of the projection TVs video output cards may get damaged. In most cases a break in board will occur. In your TV also, board break is there, and that is why you see flashing streaks of light on screen. Repair cost may be very less, but the techinician has to detect where the crak is, a little more difficult. So he may charge for his work. This is a quite time taking repair work. Detecting cracks on board and loose contacts are very difficult to detect as they will be microscopic, and technician have to check it with an illuminated magnifying glass.
The charge for repair will depend on how much time and effort the technician will have to take. OK.

All projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video or dead set) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both.
Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out
Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. In some cases the TV will also not show any video. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.
Common Symptoms include....
- Screen looks 3D
- Colors don't line up
- One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
- Screen is bowed or warped.
- TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.
Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy
Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.
