Toshiba 57H81 57" Rear Projection Television - Page 7 Questions & Answers
I was watching the television. Suddenly I lost
Your TV has 3 CRT guns and yes one of them is red. Unfortunately it is not a simple 'plug in a new bulb and go' kind of thing. Depending on your experience with electronics and fixing things in general you may want to try it yourself. A shop will want $300-400 to do this job. If you want further info on doing this yourself post back and I can assist you.
Picture is not centered on screen. Image is
That sounds like a problem with the geometry settings which are uusually only adjustable from the service menu area. I don't reccomend that you try making any adjustments in that area of the menu, as you can cause major problems or even irreversable damage if you don't understand exactly what the value you're altering is affecting. You may also have a problem in the pincusion correction circuit, or the convergence circuits. That may be a TV that needs professional attention.
Red power light continuously blinking. no picture no sound.
It could be the lamp went out and needs replacement. The Toshiba website states when this happens to unplug the televison for 10 minutes then plug back in. If that does not work then try another power outlet. If that does not work then call for service
Everything in picture has a red outline tried
Howdy,
It sounds like you are having a problem in the conversion circuit. The outputs IC’s for that circuit have failed and are need of replacement. The average cost is at least $450 on one trip. Call an Authorized Service Dealer for repair and estimate.
The conversion circuit is the circuit that aligns the picture.
Good Luck, Big Irish.
I have a toshiba big screen tv we believe both
convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually charge between $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

Can not seem to adjust the color on our Toshiba
Red crt could be dead or could be many other things. It will require service from professional. Likely the red tube is out. This could be a money pit. The other 2 tubes could also be going out. I recommend a new TV.
How can i unlock
hello press the recall button four times with in 5 seconds the pin code will be released hope it helps

Power indicator is blinking
Try plugging the tv in to a different outlet, also plug inside tv that is connected to power cord may be loose. That was what was wrong with mine, i just fixed it.
I'm having a problem with my Toshiba 57H81 Rear
Two things---first if you don't mind give me a vote here--I am rated on how many problems I fix
Second---with the original remote go into the customer menu and select Convergence---see if you can adjust the other problem that way---I can if that helps you email you the instructions for going to the tech menu to adjust convergence all over the screen and and saving those adjustments----if you find the convergence will NOT adjust in some area of the screen you may have a convergence problem.
I would appreciate a vote here for my help and if you need the directions for the advanced convergence let me have your email.
REGARDS, SD TECH
I already change the convergence chips and the red
First check the 6 resistors on the convergence board 2.2 ohm or .22
red ,red silver gold i think . if they check with in 5% , you got a bad
convergence IC , it happens. remember the chip cost about 8-12.00 etch
so , once in awhile you get a bad chip. and since the bowing red line
is normally corrected by the convergence chips . that makes them
highly suspect. also the convergence set up should allow you to
offset this . If not , swap the chips again.
also check your solder joints ,make sure you don't have any gaps.
or bridges.
If you have any questions just comment and ill respond

Toshiba 57H81 green convergence
Your symptom sounds like a damaged convergence IC.There are two and large IC’s that control the convergence in a big screen set. They are secured to a very large aluminum heat sink. They will have a part number stamped on them that will start with an STKXXX-XXX, like STK392-110, and they are located on the signal board (on the left as you look into the back of the set).Along with the convergence IC’s there will also be some associated components that will need to be replaced as well. There are some resistors that are part of the convergence circuit that will be open and need to be replaced. Most likely these will appear charred in the center. If you have an Ohm Meter or a DVM, check all the resistors that are close to the IC’s and you should be looking for either ones that have opened or have changed values. There are also two resistors on the front of the board located in the middle that are fusible link resistors, these should be checked for opens and replaced if they are found so.I would suggest that you contact a service center in your area for a complete diagnosis and repair, as this type of repair can get a little tricky. But if you want to repair the set yourself, just remember to be careful. The capacitors and CRT’s can hold a charge and may shock you.If one of the convergence IC’s are found to be bad, I would replace them both, if one has gone bad the other may go soon. I usually order my parts from Andrews Electronics in California, they will have the OEM components that you will need.Their site is http://www.andrewselectronics.com/welcome.aspxAnd their phone number is a 24-Hour Order Desk: (800) 274-4666I recommend the phone order so you can talk to the person about the different types of IC’s that are available.I would also advise that the convergence IC’s be OEM or better, just because they are cheap does not mean that they are a good deal. I have seen the cheap IC’s fail after a short time, even though they look exactly like the OEM IC’s. I think that the bottom line is that you will get what you pay for when it comes to the parts. You can also try http://www.tvrepairkits.com/ , I have not tried them yet, but they do carry OEM or better parts.I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.
Changing light engine
A light engine is NOT the reason for a short bulb life. Most likely, you have a "generic" bulb and these will NOT last in a Toshiba set. If not that--the ballast may be going bad--but I DOUBT it. Probably a cheap bulb!! Try a GENUINE Toshiba lamp first.
Blinking light without picture on Toshiba 57H81
No good news here sorry!
Power board and video X and Y boards need intervention If you are going to take a look you will find that one or even both boards have blown capacitors and burn marks along the transitor
You might be able to claim it as fusion on your insurance policy ( parts only usually) but thyat at least is some relief

Pop sound and now no picture or sound still gets power
Try disconnecting all the cables from the TV then reconnect them after a few minutes. It's suggested that you connect the power cable from the TV directly to a functional wall outlet.
If still there is no picture on the TV then it's required to replace the projection lamp.
