Green arch at bottom of screen toshiba 50hx70
it sounds like a convergence gone bad.
This requires either a competent shop or an experienced technical person who can solder and has experience in replacing Integrated Circuits.
The shop will charge around $300 to $400 to do the job.
If you can do it yourself or have a technician/engineer friend the cost of parts will be around $60 - plus lots of labor.
The convergence system will require both STKs to be replaced. They are 16 pin Integrated Circuits and must be unsoldered and the new one soldered in. Often there are a couple of resistors burned out that need replacing also.
You can often find the STK part number easily by going to www.partstore.com and chase down the part. When you find it on partstore.com you will learn their price is about $40 each. But, you can locate this same part from other suppliers by googling the STK number and find them for $6.00 and up. But, I do not recommend the cheap ones as they don't last long. The $20 ones are probably okey.
The STK for your model is the STK392-110T.
Hope this gets you started.

Service Mode
JustinMan, if you use original IC`s (not the el-cheapo chinese copies) the odds are good you will need no or minor adjustments which don`t require the need to go into service mode which you really shouldn`t go into unless your experienced with tv repair, you should be able to order the serv. manual here,
www.partstore.com it will give you the parts list and set-up procedure, good luck, BMW Rider

You have defective convergence i/cs......This is the most common problem in projection tvs, that occur after about 4yrs.
Toshiba convergence
There are kits available online, which include the chips and the soldering iron too.......Just a word of caution, convergence chip replaced is more difficult on Toshiba #1 the chips face other boards that must be remove first. the main one is the convergence generator (which the sheild is soldered in placed) Also the signal board (which is what everythings mounted to is very fragile)..............Good Luck

Another Convergence Problem?

Hdtv/ direct tv service

Toshiba 55hx70
check all the fuses.
Its easy to mis the 2amp pico fuse mounted near the middle of the power board. When this fuse opens, the red at the top, especially at the left side of the screen, will not adjust enough.
Be sure to use new heatsink compound behind the ic's
Shutdowns,are usually,not an easy repair
Good luck
