Disc load problem
DVD players need a finilized disk. When the program finilizes the disk, it's writing the TOC which is where the players go to find the files.
HDD Corrupt
I have the XS35 and the HDD drive is curropt. Can I do the following?
1. Download the Toshiba firmware update:
http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/customersupport/model_firmware.asp?model=rd-xs34
2. Burn the ISO to a CD-R disc. ImgBurn is an excellent free burner for this.
http://www.imgburn.com/
3. Insert the CD in your unit. It will auto-install the firmware. Follow onscreen instructions. Takes about 10 minutes total.
After the update, my existing HDD shows are playable again, and I can record and playback from the HDD. I bet it would be a good idea to periodically backup your shows on DVDs, and regularly reformat the HDD.

Hi.
Error I0 is data timeout. It can be caused by a corrupted file or by a defective hard drive. It means that the unit cannot read from the internal hard disk.
I suggest doing a reset by holding down the power button for more than 10 seconds, until WAIT appears on screen. That fixes most Toshiba problems providing that there is no fault.
If that does not work you can try the resets below:
Try first resetting the unit. To reset disconnect power cord, connect back, then turn on and again hold the power button down for more that 10 seconds.
If the machine goes to reset, you will get Wait displayed on screen.
If the machine does not go to reset, before trying the procedures below I suggest calling Toshiba, and getting a firmware and software update CD if available. If the machine does not start at this point, system software (more likely) or firmware is damaged.
If that does not work, you can try a service reset. The procedures to do this reset in Toshiba are the folloving. This reset will delete ALL files in the hard drive and all settings:
Enter in remote ZOOM 701 ZOOM while the unit is on. If reset starts it will display INIT OK.
or
Enter in remote the sequence of keys:
DVD Top Menu Menu Audio Subtitle. If reset starts it will display INIT OK.
If all that does not work, then the hard disk must probably be replaced.

Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
#2
Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
#3
Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
#4
In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
#5
Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
#6
Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

DVDR 3350H KEEP READING AND WON'T EJECT DISC
Look under the faceplate where the disc tray ejects and see if there is a small hole. If so, use a straightened paper clip to eject the disc manually by pushing it into the hole about an inch. If that works, then reset the power on the unit and try a nonrecorded type disc to see if the unit works at all.
Other than that, you'll have to take the unit apart to get your disc out.
Hope that helps...

Trying to use a blue-ray DVD 1st time. switched to
You made 2 mistakes:
1 - HDD - Hard Disk Drive = the hard disk that is inside your player, you have to record to it from your dvd only unit before playing something of it.
2 - there is no blue-ray DVD. It's either a BR-disk = BluRay -disk or a DVD, no mixup possible
To put it simply your DVD player can't play BR disks, it doesn't have the laser to read and the software to decode them so it will simply recognize them as damaged.
It's an old model that is even incapable of upscaling - a process by which SD (Standard Definition) signal from the DVD is converted by the player to HD (High Definition).
If you want to view a BR-disk you will gonna have to buy a new player, this time a BR player, not a DVD player.
