I have this problem with my Hoover VHC681C. The plastic at the back of the condenser unit warps outwards and stops it fitting back in the hole. To work around the problem, when I've finished washing out the condenser I pour very hot water on the warped plastic to soften it, push it back into shape with a wooden spoon handle and hold it there while it cools. Then I hold it into shape with my fingers before slamming the condenser back into the hole. You have to be quick! A replacement condenser is £70 - £100 in the UK. Very disappointed in this machine. I will consider shaving off the warped plastic if it becomes too troublesome.
Squealing is usually belt slip or dry idler roller bearings.
Grinding noises can be a worn main bearing at the back, or the felt front drum slides.
It is a 1996 machine, so probably time to think about replacing it? Diagnosing would involve a full disassembly and check the parts mentioned for wear. This is a UK and Australian model.

If it's working for a while then shutting off, sounds like thermal overload.
I'd recommend replacing the heating element depending on the age of the dryer.
It could also be:
The cable or plug
The interference suppressor
The main drum motor or fan motor
The control panel
The motor starter capacitor
An issue with the wiring, e.g. the wires are worn or melted
It sounds like your tumble dryer may be experiencing some kind of issue with its sensor system or control board. The beeping and stopping and starting could indicate a problem with the sensors that detect moisture levels in the dryer, which can cause the machine to think that the clothes are dry when they are not. This can also cause the condensation to build up on the glass.
Another possibility is a problem with the control board, which can cause the dryer to behave erratically or stop functioning properly. If you have already cleaned out the lint and checked all of the mechanical parts, it may be time to call a professional repair service to diagnose and fix the issue. They will have the tools and expertise to identify the root cause of the problem and repair or replace any damaged parts.
If your Hoover 5kg dryer is not working properly, there are a few potential causes for this problem:
The dryer may not be receiving enough power. Make sure the dryer is plugged in and the outlet is functioning properly.
The dryer's lint filter may be clogged. Clean the lint filter to ensure it is not blocking the air flow.
The dryer's vent may be clogged. Check the vent and clean it if necessary to ensure the air can flow freely.
The dryer's heating element may be damaged. If the heating element is not functioning properly, the dryer will not be able to dry clothes effectively.
If you are unsure how to check for and address these potential causes, you may want to consult the user manual for your Hoover dryer or contact the manufacturer for assistance.
Wow, a late 1980 machine! If it is turning and not heating it probably needs a new heating element, IF you can find one. New ones are more energy efficient and look prettier. They also have sensing programs to stop drying when the clothes are dry and my Whirlpool has a water injector to steam refresh clothes or remove creases before you wear.

Likely this is a machine state, not an error.
7. Keylock This function allows to block unwanted changes of the set options on the bezel , during drying phase. Activation/ Inactivation: Push 4 and 5 buttons simultaneously for two seconds . The sign "LOC" appears on the display. Unlocking the option, on the display appears the sign "Unl", only once. In case of opening of 'porthole' with activated key lock, the cycle stops but the lock is kept: to restart the cycle, you must remove the lock and restore Start. When the dryer is off, the option is automatically inactivated. Key lock can be modified at any time of the cycle.
Suggest using the "app" if condition persists.
