You can either renew your Symantec software online or buy a fresh copy of the product from any authorised Symantec vendors.

Alternatively you can use the free antivirus programs like Avira AntiVir or AVG.

I assume you were asking about an anti virus software, I would suggest you try avg which is free.Hope this helps.

I suggest Avira or Mcafee which you can download from Internet ( Trial version )

Did you change your operating system example from windows xp to windows 7 ? if so you should consider that some hardware have a driver for every operating system please check the manufacturer site for the drivers thanks.

You can get free AV Softwares for PC, the top in my list are;

• Avira Antivirus
• Microsoft Security Essentials
• Avast AV
• AVG Free

These all are free AV, you can download and install any of them. I hope you will have a clearer picture now.

Your software is an old version which is not compatible to Vista. Get the newer version 6.

del the folders from HDD and use registry cleaners ro remove registry file

i would try a system restore back to a point before you subscribed to norton.

control panel - system - system restore

right click on the file....goto the PROPERTIES option....search for the look for the text on the properties box.....uncheck the Hide/Right Protected.

Your license for most software allows it to be installed only on *ONE* computer.

Instead, download the free Microsoft Security Essentials anti-virus software:

From the sounds of your issue, it may be that you have malware or a Trojan. You can run a scan using this free malware/antivirus protection. I am not sure which antivirus you are currently using but this one is free and has excellent reviews. You will need to uninstall your current antivirus protection first before installing this one.

Malware/Trojans can disable your antivirus programs and make it look like everything is running smoothly. By running a complete scan with another program, you can get the malware out. Even the best antivirus can be disabled.

If you "upgraded" and installed over Vista, it is probably at the root of the problem. The same thing happened to me on one of my computers.

As much as you will hate to do it, you should do a "clean" install over a freshly formatted harddisk. That was the only way I was able to get my laptop to boot.

Forget Norton its a memory hog and expensive. Get Avast Antivirus and Malwarebytes (Free) Here are the links..
