It sounds like the box and TV are out of sync. If the DVR is shut off, turn off the TV manually (NOT with the remote.) The next time you hit the power on the remote, both units should power up together. you will need to replace the leaky capacitors in the power supply circuit. You can locate the faulty capacitors with a visual check. Those that are bulging need to be replaced.
