The lamp is usually your first replacement, but a freeze in picture may have to do with the video board or the DMD board. Try the lamp first and see if that fixes it--because you'll need a new one anyway if you're going to keep the television. Make sure to get an OEM Philips lamp for your Sammy. Buy from an authorized distributor.

That is the classic case of the color wheel going out on you. The color wheel has ball barrings that tend to break and cause friction within the wheel. It'll start squealing loudly when it becomes stuck. Before it broke, did you notice the color going out or a fuzzy picture with poor skin tones? That's the color wheel!

This may be caused by two things,
1. The color wheel is in the early stages of failing.
2. The digital Board is in its early stages of failing.

I suggestion to you is to have the color wheel replaced now as this is the most common failure second to the lamp in samsung DLP's. This part can be installed yourself, there are lots of sites that will give you pictures and Directions on how to replace your color yourself, saving you $200.00 dollars rather then having a technician come to your home and do it try UTube of one.

I was having this same problem - power cycling - exactly as described. The lamp turns on and the picture looks good for the 5-10 seconds it is on (this makes me question all the comments I've seen online saying it is a bad lamp that needs replaced).

Problems started with green lines on analog channels and erratic behavior that included freezing and shutting off occasionally. Now, it is to the point where I get 5-10 seconds of picture, then it freezes and starts the power cycle 5-6 times, chiming every time it automatically turns on, before finally remaining off. I have removed the back, dusted off fans/components/etc, supplied additional fan for airflow, and made sure the blue switch in the back is down. Still having the same problem!

Ok. I went through the standard warranty process, which means they sent me a replacement bulb saying that was the issue. No luck...same power cycling. Finally they sent a tech out who took a look and said he needed to replace the digital board. So, 2 weeks later, the part came in and the repairman came back out to install it. Voila, I have a tv again. (This is the same fix the supervisor at the call center said it needed months ago...before they sent me the lamp)

So...I would recommend having the tv's digital board checked. Especially if your tv is still under warranty, as it cost me $0.00 to fix. Chances are, they are still going to start by having you replace the lamp. Good luck!

It's super easy -
1) Unscrew the small hatch in the bottom right of the back panel
2) Looking straight back, you will see what looks like a small flood lamp in a square enclosure, with one screw in the middle of the left most edge facing you.
3) Unscrew this screw, being carefull not to lose it
4) Using the two outsets above and below the screw, pull the square assembly straight out toward you.

That's it. You've removed the existing lamp! To replace it, you would just slide a new one into place and screw it in following the opposite process from removal.

It's simple. Your TV does not like you. Perhaps you need to speak kindly to it before you force it to watch BBC for hours. Buy it a scone.

DMD moduel needs to be replaced Call Encompass Parts Distrubtion they did have 6 in stock 1-800-638-3328 replace DMD and that will fix TV! Moduel just connects in on both sides Make sure you Label where each Plug-in goes I always use tape,paper and Label each one,so I know where what goes where.

nost likely the color wheel, They are famous for having a piece come off the wheel which will cause a very loud humming sound.

This is a common problem. Its called a convergence failure.

Problem #1) Convergence

Symptoms:

• Screen Looks 3D
• Colors wont align
• Video may look distorted

Problem #2 CRT Fluid has clouded over. Symtoms

• Dull looking video
• White looking video
• Halos around objects
• Red/Orange looking video

Color wheel can do this.

Hi,did you close the door cover?Make sure itsproperly shut other wise it won't tv light up. Reset the lamp
timer? you can do this by unpluging the set for 5 min
and plug it back(works for most sets). Was the fan
running ok? You can clean it w an air pressure
can. If you heard clicking or like wanting to turn on the problem could be with the board that powers the lamp.The board it's called the ballast.If its not able
to provide the power to the lamp it will not turn it on.

Bad capacitors on power supply board, 2200uf 25v most of the time they have 4 of them that need to be replaced.

Check the color wheel. If that is ok, replace lamp and ballast.
