You will actually get white and black dots , the black ones are tougher to see because of the color in the background , within 2 months youre picture will be fully covered with dots....I went through the Samsung website troubleshooting flow chart , and it led me to a bad Digital Micromiror Device , or DMD board . What is actually the problem is the DMV chip connected to this board . Inside this chip are 3 million tiny mirrors ,and when they physically get stuck , they either show black or white instead of a color . Samsung will not tell me the part number of the chip , they will only offer to send a service tech to my house .

Ive replaced my samsung color wheel using the website jangro.com. It worked great. However I cant seem to locate a website with instructions on how to replace my light engine, or light tunnel. Does anyone know of a link??
No, I don't know of one. The service manual might or training manual but you would probably need to buy that.
I've never done one on a Samsung. Do you actually need to change it or just wondering?

White spots are just emerging on my 50 inch Samsung DLP TV everyday. It started with one two days ago and now there are almost 30, I gueww in two weeks the sreen would be covered.
Help
This Is outrageous !!!! Same for my SAMSUNG DLP , I have a 46 inch, it started with one small white spot. It hasn't even been a week and there's at least 20 !! I emailed SAMSUNG and of course didn't get a response. My TV is about three years old.. I agree with boycotting SAMSUNG ! They are very crappy and should be ashamed to sell a product like this, and I will be sure to keep spreading the word NOT TO BUY SAMSUNG !
See link below for "field of stars" fix:

Worked a charm on my 50" Samsung DLP. Read thread carefully as there are 2 different version of the DMD chip you will need to replace. I ended up fixing mine for less than $165!

I have no picture. when I turn it on , only get lights blinking. in the start button. Plus there is a humming sound that I used to get intermittntly befor this happened, once it started the only way I could get rid of it was to shut the tv off for awhile, sometimes that would work for awhile ...sometimes not. In addition to no pic there is no sound now.
We just replaced our color wheel and it took about 2 hours. We used this site because it was the only one that somewhat resembled our TV http://guides.fixyourdlp.com/samsung/bp96-01579a.php Our TV had a loud humming noise and no picture. We also had to replace the bulb. Hope this helps.

How do I reset color after installing the new color wheel?
Most times color does not to be reset. If you have a very ugly green or blue picture, then you did not pull the jumper on the dm board. This jumper must be removed when a bering type color wheel has be replaced with a new airless bering color wheel.

I have a 50" Samsung HL-P5063W (2 1/2 yrs old) which does not power on. . ."Lamp" light flashes for 20 seconds and then you hear PS clicking, repeats cycle 3 times before it shuts off and all 3 lamps flash! Samsung Tech told me to replace lamp. . .they transfered me to local auth. service who told me same and sold me lamp. . .to no avail, then Samsung told me it had to be balast. . .local auth. service guy told me same, sold me balast, replaced it. . .to no avail! So $300 later. . .same symptoms. . .same problem! Local Samsung guy, who also told me, and sold me lamp and balast, wants $75 now to diagnose? I'm alittle upset with Samsung and their local service guy! Any ideas? Thanks, Matt [email protected]
You will need to have it diagnosed if you do not have the service manual, or the knowledge of how these circuits work. I can tell you to replace this or that but it would be a guess! You need to start measuring the voltages on the ballast circuit, as I have seen door switches, fan sensors, heat sensors cause all of your symptoms as well. Good Luck

Own a Samsung DLP TV (model HL-5675s) and a few white dots began appearing on the screen about two weeks ago. Now there are about 100 dots on the left side of the screen. TV is about 1 /2 years old.
It seems you might have an issue with the dmd board. Go to the menu, and if the dots still show on the menu, the issue definitely is with the dmd board but if they don't come up on the menu, the issue will be with the video board.

had one last week and now there are 6. they are tiny white dots that are randomly placed. I have a samsung 46in. dlp hdtv. it's about 2 years old.
Hi,
You get white spots inside the samsung DLP tv due to bad Digital Micromiror Device , or bad DMD board .
What is actually the problem is the DMV chip connected to this board . Inside this chip are 3 million tiny mirrors ,and when they physically get stuck , they either show black or white instead of a color
This is well know problem with SAMSUNG DLP...
The DMD chip is failing. If not under warranty expect to pay a few hundred to several hundred to get it fixed
The mirrors on the DLP chip are slowly sticking either fully open (white) or fully closed (black). The part that contains the DLP chip is the Light Engine. It is the most expensive part of the TV.Only the Samsung TVs has this issue.
Replacing the DLP chip and the micro mirror would solve this issue...
Pleaserate this solution,
