Hi , I think your laptop brightness settings had been changed. So try this to increase and reduce the brightness , contrast. Select start-> control panel -> appearance & personalization -> display . There you will have options like Adjust brightness , Adjust resolution etc., on the left side of your window. You may adjust in this way.

MOST LIKELY, if convergence will not adjust in some part of the screen and or is bowed looking:

You need to locate the two convergence chips (usually STK-392-020 OR -040 THAT this set should use.

Most of these smaller Samsung sets they are located on a small circuit board mounted above the main boards--see photo of typical chip---should be two side by side.

If they are not located on that separate board, it will be much harder to remove/ replace them.

TOTAL PARTS COST ON EBAY WOULD BE UNDER 20 DOLLARS.

GO TO THE INTERNET:

SEARCH : ANDREWS ELECTRONICS (THEY ARE IN LA) they show the mirror available but has to be ordered from Samsung--suggested list price plus shipping and or tax is $132.00.

You can call them and order it with a credit card etc, make sure you get it insured--I have had the experience of getting a new one that did not survive the trip.

Andrews is the largest OEM parts dealer in the United States; you can call SAMSUNG and get a part number but Andrews will be faster and cheaper.

Be aware if the mirror broke and fell into the screen it may have scratched it.

To answer your question;
What you have is called a convergence problem.
Some parts inside will need to be replaced.
If you or a friend feel handy , i will leave you a web address where you can find what you need to repair your tv.

I am not sure about fubar, what you need most is convergence repair. Confirm fault with Convergence Galley. Non adjustment in convergence menu is confirmation of convergence failure. Also confirmed if Magic Focus will not complete the adjust cycle. If you want to use the TV again, get local service guy.

Ask for "How much to Repair" on-site and describe problem. If he offers to provide an estimate after sending a kid out for a service call charge, etc., call someone else. They are trying to Jack Fubar's bill to $300-$600.

Or you can attempt repair yourself. Buy ICs, get tools for the job, Rip TV apart and change. Be prepared to troubleshoot any existing secondary faults or problems you may cause.

Big Noise companies with impressive names sell useless STK ICs to unsuspecting consumers. If you happen to buy these ICs, you may end up scrapping your TV.

Many of the Help Me inquiries for convergence repair start with "I changed my STKs with honkin' new upgrades in a kit and TV is dead or worse than at the start of the repair." Please help.

Hi. Did the ngineer say that it was problem with convergence pcb ? To be honest the lil git hitting the screen is more likely to damage the screen than convergence. Try going in to the menu then convergence & adjust red & blue to try & get the crosses white with no coloured halo around. Post on here with results your model of tv is pretty straight forward I work for an indepedent tv repair shop the manuals are easy to get hold of thats if he even needs one. Chris..

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems that you have to replace the convergence IC and check power resistor for leakage, if values are not exact you have to replace them. The typical cost to get this fixed by a pro is about $300 - and it doesn't mean that he/they will do a job better than you do. The parts are less than $100 (about $20-$30 for the IC's) if you want to do it yourself. Replacing only the IC's MAY solve the problem; however, many people have also had blown resistors requiring replacement. Why would you ask should you replace both of the IC's if only one is shot?! If one is shot the other one is not far away and for that little price of the chips it worth changing them both at the same time. Also the convergence board should be checked for cracked solder. If you replace the ICs and the resistors are shot, the ICs may blow again almost immediately, meaning you may have to do the repair twice.

If you know how to rebuild the convergence, then go for it. Otherwise, you'll be dumping $300.00 more into the repair

check your tv set sound system PAL/BG NTSC/DK
SCAEM/ I NTSC/MN PLS check your country colour and sound system set on your tv .
if not
then probum is in the pcb cheked sound cristal replase and sound is ok.

Ur power board ic converter board it dead.
U know about a little about electronic the plug
go direct to the board order that board or repair man cost part labors about $575.

The model number should be on the inside of the back cover. Usually is but if not, check the frame or system board. First check back cover

This is an indication that the STK is bad. The PC board should be marked to indicate which one if for the green.
