Samsung LN-R409D 40 in. LCD Television Questions & Answers
Why will my LCD tv not power up?
Good day,
Maybe some more information needed here. Do you see a flash from the screen at all? Do you see the Samsung splash logo, and then the TV shuts down?
If so, this is the safety working on the TV. The power board senses the voltages needed to power the back lighting. If there is a wrong level, shutdown occurs to protect the TV.
Could be a bulb, or the power inverter board.
Good luck...

You have bad T-CON board, check the surface mounted fuse (2A fuse) to see if it is blown, you may want to replace the board, common failure in this model.

Read below for more details:
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.

Blank screen Samsung LN-R409D, audio when turning
Hi there
Im afraid this sounds like a fault with the TV. Try turning it off at the wall for 3 minutes, and then with nothing plugged into the TV, turn it back on. If the problem persists contact the manufacturer.
Hope this helps

You will need to have the power supply board replaced. This is a common problem and Samsung has re-designed the new boards so this will not happen again. You can call 1-800-samsung for the nearest authorizd service center.

Hi,
That is a common problem with Samsung some capacitors on the power supply are bad. (Look for caps that are rounded on the top they are supposed to be flat, most of the others will be) You can replace the bad caps for just a few $$$ the value of the caps are written on the side like 1000 mf 10v etc.. you can find them online just about anywhere. If you need o pay a repairman see if they will do the caps, many will replace the whole board and easily become a $300-400 dollar repair.
