check all your cables installed in your vcr and tv it might be grounded.

The tv has a set of imputs for audio and video ,there is a posibility your dvd is not working right,you can also try a vcr by using the rca audio and video outputs of the vcr to the rca audio and video imputs of the tv,that will tell you if the dvd is not working ,the tv should have a switch selector for video and antena or have a channel below 1 called aux.

There should be an input button on either your remote or TV.

Recording speed is the last item on the timer programming. SP or SLP. Some remotes have a button that will allow you to change the speed, when recording manually.

i have the same set i used a rca universal remote rcr311w i think its the oem one i bought two of them at walmart i don,t know if they still carry them 

Try clean the AC head with a
foam type head cleaning Q-tip
when you take the cover off
tle AC head is the device
to the R of the drum that
resembles a recordling head
because thats what it is
clean the dark strip up

You or someone may have press record and the set is in record mode. that way whatever time it's set for it will come on. Or you have to unplug to reset. Leave off for atleast 1hour then plug back in.

I am sorry to have to tell you this, but the only way to change the recording speed is with an original remote. If you look on the original replacement remote link I posted here you will see the SP/EP selector, this is to change the recording speed. Ok you did not cause the problem as you could always turn on the TV set from the front panel button,, If the TV set will not turn on even with the front panel button, there is a major fault with the TV set. This is not a reset that can be done by the user as there is a circuit fault and will require you to take the TV set into a shop to be diagnoised or replaced. Good Luck

The safety circuit is sensing a problem and is why it will not let the tv stay on,the cause could be a problem on the mechanics of the vcr,you need to get an estimate to see if it is worth the repair and might be able to keep using just the tv.

Theres no reset as I know but I only had a couple of these types of RCA and both had tv problems.. In todays VCR's there are no belts to replace or go bad. Mostly all nylon gears and plasic chassis. Most of the faults that lie with todays VCR's are bad Capstan motors ,defective tape loading carriages, defective mode switchs or sometimes even bad cylinder motors. If any of the gears break or cracks it will completely throw the unis mechaism out of alighnment and you will need to know from the manual where to set every gear ,lever and switch or it will never work.. Thats why most VCR;'s today are throwaway as you have to buy a service manual spoend time finding out why the mechanism dosent work and then buy the parts to correct the fualt. Try to check the power supply output side where anything could came into contact with positive and negative line for which when you press play button then it shuts down.

RCA video cables handle analog signals. HDMI cables carry digital video signals. You need a converter. If you are using a component video converter, check if you swapped two of the three RCA video cables. (There are some A/V projectors that can do the translation of RCA and HDMI internally. Most TVs do not.) I hope this helps. Most modern tv remotes are not normally designed to be repaired. You will possibly need to replace it. there are plenty of cheaper after market version that will do the job just as well. Your other option, and yes I know this is a silly answer, when you want to mute the TV is to simply press the volume down button to zero then turn it back up when you want sound.
