On page 6 of the manual it specifies the following things to check out if the menu does now come up on the screen.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If the menu does not appear: (page 6 of user manual)

• Make sure the TV is tuned to the same channel as the
CH. 3/4 switch or the TV's video input channel (see "How
to Find Your TV's Video Input Channel" in the
References section of this manual for more information).
• Make sure the VCR indicator is on in the VCR's front
display if the VCR is connected using the ANT. IN and
RF OUT jacks.
• Check your connections to make sure they are correct
and snug.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you chose to set up the VCR's options individually, then
go to the next section for specific menu instructions.

I hope this helps. Cheers - walt

the power supply starts at the plug and, extends along the edge of the vcr to the front; it has a heavy line and, the word: "hot" printed on the circuit board; separating it from the "cold" DC side of the VCR circuit board.

HI,

if the display shows a progress bar when lowering and increasing the volume, that's a system built feature. you will not be able to remove that feature.

You can't do anything without a remote. How can you not have a remote for it! Just buy a facsimile remote, the same as the old one.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

In general the TV is not receiving any input. The fact that you lost HDMI and VGA earlier suggests that there is a breakdown in the input circuits.
Best guess, replace the main board. Symptom doesn't seem to indicate Power supply or TCon board

I suspect that when adding your audio cables you may have bumped another cable loose. If you look and don't see a loose connection, one thing that has helped me in the past is to just remove ALL cables completely (that means both sides of all cables from all devices) and and slowly connect one device at a time, checking that the newly added device functions properly before proceeding to the next device.
Good luck
