Maybe the flyback transformer are damaged also the horizontal output transistor.

This TV has an NTSC (analog) tuner. You'll need a digital to analog converter if you want to receive most OTA channels.

You need to route the signal from the cable modulator to the DVR and then to the TV to be able to view and record. If this is done you will be able to watch what you are recording. When you are not recording, the signal will go through the DVR to the TV.
Please change the cabling and you should have what you want.

You have a bad flyback transformer and shorted horizontal output transistor. Your set would have to be taken to a shop to have these parts replaced. Stargazer

may be bad solder connections for the turn off issue but someone who knows what to look for would have to open set and inspect.Panel block will be in the owner manual and should not cause the set to turn off.

Google would be best here but almost any GE/RCA universal should work with no programming, it will not have all the functions of the original remote but will operate very basic things.Thompson sets are rca,ge, and parts can be hard to find. About the only OEM dealer I know who may be still selling them is Andrews Electronics in California who has a toll free number and a site on the internet.

much better to bring it to repair shop than doing it your self. it will save you for much trouble ifyou dont have knowledge about that.

open the back of the television and check the capacitors on the power supply and video board ....if any are swolen or oozing stuff out replace them...check all of them and replace them then should work perfect

sounds like the sceen is dead, if you are receiving nothing on screen, then it sounds like either a component and/or screen is gone... however, check the tv input to make sure it wasnt acidentally switched to an input channel with nothing selected... if that does not work, call local tv repair or mfg customer service tech. if under warranty, have repaired or replaced. without physically seeing tv, it is hard to diagnose issue outside of information given. could be simple board replacement or could be screen.. but check input first, if a dvd player plays, then it could be just component or input on wrong selection

2. buy a new universell rc and put the code of your tv
