replace color wheel

RCA Scenium... | Answered on Mar 31, 2009

I don't believe the moving and unhooking was the issue! First I would look inside to see if the ribbon like cable came loose, that goes from signal board (input board) to lcd controller. The lcd controller will be on the back of the lcd screen, you will see a small board under a metal cover.

Second It may have been a coincidence, and the signal board was starting to fail. There could be some visual issue's with board maybe some bad caps (capacitors) on the board. They will look bulged on the top an may be a little leaky (brownish stain). Good luck, I hope this was helpful!!

Yes, the lamp will gradually get darker as it nears it's end. The rolling lines sounds more like the set is on a local channel for the cable hook up. If your local area has a channel 3 or 4 live terestrial broadcast simply tune the cable box output to the other one, the same for the tv.
If this is cable/local broadcast issue it will go away in Febuary when the NTSC broadcast ends.

It sounds as if the lamp needs to be replaced. The buzzing sound you hear is the ballast attemting to fire the lamp.

As you have already connected another TV to the HDMI cable and it works fine, you have answered your question yourself. You need to check the HDMI port on the TV for any problems . I would suggest to get in touch with a local tech., cause this would involve opening up your TV.

No, don't wait. Make sure you get RCA to cover this under warranty. Don't wait for everyone with this model to have the same problem and jam up RCA with the customer service nightmare that is rampant in this industry.

If you forget your password, simultaneously press and hold the MENU/
OK button on the front panel and VOLUME down button on the
remote for three seconds. This resets the password only and unlocks the
TV; all other settings in Parental Controls are not changed.

Assuming that the replacement lamp is good, you could be looking at a bad ballast (lamp power supply) or the switch on the lamp door itself could be causing the issue. The light engine also could cause an issue like that. I would have a technician look at it as this is beyond consumer repair.

RCA Scenium... | Answered on Sep 01, 2008

have you tried the lamp even thogh it visualy look fine.it may still be defective and make sure the lamp door is put back properly because of the security door switch.also make sure all the fans are working and make sure the color wheel is installed properly.
find out how old is the lamp.if the lamp is close to two years old, probably the lamp is your problem.
