I have sound but no

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

Remember, TVs CONTAIN HIGH VOLTAGE AND CAN KILL YOU! Do this at your own risk.

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found online. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. Here is the Link: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and if it does please rate it accordingly. Good luck.

RCA Color Wheel

Hi,
Color wheel will generate high pitch sound if its bearing got defective and when it got jammed, tv wont power On.
You need to replace color wheel in tv to get it fixed, its bit complicated job and an experienced tech can do that in better way.
Color wheel is located next to lamp housing in light engine, need to take out light engine from tv for color wheel replacement.
Required color wheel is available with TSM, click that link for price info.
Below is an image of color wheel for reference.
I would recommend to call local tv repairman for color wheel replacement as novice can damage light engine in all that process.
Thanks.

My rca senium is screaching loudly off and on

Usually noises that are heard even while the TV is in the off state are power supply issues. Something is off frequency or a coil/tranformer is vibrating at a high rate. The part number for the power board is 263973 but the board is no longer available. If the power supply is going off frequency the voltages will change and possibly cause the set to loose its picture. If its just a mechanical vibration then picture loss could be because a failing lamp.

No picture, we tryied unplugging it and every key

Hello,

Problem is in either power supply or the Y-Sustain board.

The Y-Sustain is a relatively large board out of which go connections to the side of the display; it's therefore closer to either the left or the right side of the display, has at least one rather large heat sink on it and fat power cables connecting it to the main power supply.

Often there are fuses on that board - one or more. Check those.

if they are blown you can try to replace them, but expect them to blow again - usually the whole board needs to be replaced.

often that *needs* to be done in a service center as there are some adjustments to be made after replacement; don't know about this particular TV model.

I have a 61" RCA

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If the bulb is brand new and you know is absolutely fine then the issue is with the ballast that has gone bad and should be replaced as it is the power source for the bulb. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Hello:

You seem to have a bad color wheel assembly, this is a easy fix but should be done by a qualified technician. The wining noise your hearing is the motor bearings in the color wheel. Having the color wheel replaced will solve your problem...

I have no picture.

Before we can attempt to repair anything at all, there is one thing that one MUST do before anything else is done. Now that is, the making sure that the Power Supply,of the unit, no matter what it is, has the correct Voltages, coming into it, and more importantly, coming OUT of it. This is absolutely imperative, as, IF these Voltages are NOT correct then NOTHING will work, properly at all. So we must measure these voltages with a Volt Meter. All Voltage measurements are made with reference to ground. Meaning we clip, our Black, Minus, Lead onto the Earth, or Chassis, or Negative (-) "Rail" of the Power Supply. Now with the Red lead, we can now, measure these Voltages. Now sometimes, the Voltage of each Output is annotated,or written, onto the PCB, that will indicate the Voltage of that output. However most usually they are NOT, so in this case we MUST have a manual to tell us. Now this manual is called a "Service Manual" or sometimes a "Repair manual" This manual is absolutely vital so much so, that it can be near impossible to do without it. As apart from having "Troubleshooting" step through's, it also has our Voltages. When we measure these Voltages they are 100% EXACT, so IF the Voltage you measure, except for a few rare exceptions, the "Rail" that is NOT at the correct voltage is the one, that the "Fault/Cause" is "ON". Therefore we can now work outwards from the Power Supply, looking for the cause of that problem. Now if the Voltage is Lower than specified, we are invariably looking for a "Short", something has "Faulted" and is "Dragging" the Power Rail down to earth. Now if the "Rail" is "Higher" than the specified Voltage then the fault we are looking for is usually some sort of "Open Circuit" possibly a Diode, or resistor that has changed it's "Value". Now knowing this and knowing that the Power Supply is the FIRST place to start you troubleshooting and repair from. You now have a MUCH better chance of a "Fix". One thing more, DO NOT forget to get your SERVICE MANUAL. for you exact make & model. even if you pay for it, you will be glad you did.

Above is your user manual below is your service and repair manual. Another one below to assist in troubleshooting and understanding.

Below is a tutorial on just how a dlp TV all works, this is what we use to train the engineers to service and understand these units.

Now if you feel that it you do not want to do it. It is my professional advice is to get you set looked at by a RCA Authorised Service Centre, and ask for free "Quote", this way, you will be able to make an informed judgment, as to repair or replace. As these days seemingly insignificant SYMPTOMS, often cost as much to repair as it may cost to buy.

RCA Scenium turn on tv with remote, on light flickers on and off

You'll probably need to replace the lamp, the approximate life of a lamp is between 4000 and 6000 hours depending on owners use. You'll find the lamp located behind the access dorr in the right side of the back cabinet, two hex screws hold the access door in place and two more hex screws hold the lamp cage. Once the screws are removed pull the cage assembly out and check the lamp side, you'll probably see the damage in the center of the lamp. If the lamp is the problem, you can find a goos selection at UED union electronic distributors, you can contact [email protected] and provide him with your model number.

Television turns on but it has voice but no

You have either a bad ballast or a bad DMD Board. First remove the lamp from the televison and power the television on. When you turn it on you should hear a buzz and if you look in the back of the televison you should see a spark (this will not damage your television). If you dont hear the buzz or see a spark than your ballast which powers on the lamp is bad. If you hear the buzz and see a spark than your ballast is good and the DMD board needs replacing which will cost around $500-$850 depending on where you take it to be fixed. If you do the repair yourself then you must also know how to access the service menu and also know which engine you have and also be ready to tackle adjusting the picture which will require two people or your picture will not be square or centered. DMD boards usually run around $300.00

I have removed the color wheel from one of these and took apart to clean it thoughroughly this did work to fix one. Try an older distributor of parts for inventory they may have like Cumberland Signal Electronic parts in Pennsylvania. I have also found hard to come by parts on Sears Parts.com
